Yes, I'm aware of this, but I'm inclined to believe that the holiday has pagan roots and was "Christianized" by Rome.

What really gets me is everyone on this thread states that it doesn't really mean evil to them???? But do any of these God Fearing Soul's ever consider what Our Heavenly Father, and His Son might Think about it.
OT Law was against using Pagan Rituals, and calling them worship to HIM! ABOMINATION'S
If anyone reads the OT they will find out what caused the Chosen People to be completely dispersed from the Promised Land????

I would say it's about even - bonfire night is celebrated quite a lot where I live, ( I am near Lewes and they have different bonfire associations and it's always been a big event ) I personally do not celebrate either- fireworks are just so expensive, and I am on high ground, so I just enjoy everyone else's - years ago more people had bonfires in their own gardens, that's developed more into organised events. Halloween I avoid, and never encouraged my children to get involved ( trick or treating was reletively new back then ) I don't like it, never have, never will. I personally don't see it as just a bit of fun. We don't get many people going round anyway. It's become very commercialised - just like Christmas.

As I recall they run special train to Lewes on bonfire night, right? :)

My memories of southern England include lots of narrow little roads. Some of them wind a lot. Over here the roads tend to be wider and straighter, (and gas is about half the price, also... :) )

I mustn't digress too much...

Yes, there are loads of small winding roads throughout England, but everything is smaller over here !!! Lol

Back on topic, People on this thread have stated that halloween is pagan and satanic in origin. This is true.

So, some of you defending practicing it still haven't given a good reason for doing so. Just excuses.
I've heard some say before that it's just for the kids.
If you are for the kids, you won't want to harm them by getting them involved with Satan.
I have heard testimony about kids who were raised celebrating halloween who eventually got involved in rebellion, drug addiction, and the occult down the road. Take a stand and quit making excuses for the sake of your children.

Well, while many of you are nit-picking and grousing in your excuses, our congregation will spend the time introducing children to Christ.

The lines between celebrating halloween and having a christian alternative are easy to distinguish.
The Sunday school at our church used to get the children carving pumpkins with crosses and stars and such which I thought was a nice idea.

I chuckle at people freaking out about a particular day of the year...… when they proudly wear the Roman Torture method of death.... (a cross) that existed as evil for ages before Christ came along. This, alone, should show us that God takes back from Satan anything and everything.... and expects us to do the same.

Most probably know the historical evolution of the cross and crucifix in Christianity. There were some that saw the morbid side of a execution device with someone you loved nailed to it. Personally I have not issues with it. I had a neighbor's son tell on me about having a naked man nailed to a piece of wood in my bedroom. Humorous, he had no idea about Christ.

It wasn't three hours of hanging on a cross that made Jesus worthy of the task of saving humanity, (both of the thieves there with Him did the same thing) but rather thirty-three years of living a human life in submission to God.
