This is the last I’m going to say in regards to this, beause I feel that it needs to be said. I know that most of you who are for Halloween will continue to remain in favor of it, because no matter what is said, whether Biblically sound or not, it will not have any affect on your opinion. However, I’m sending this out to those who want to listen and not speak.
The Bible tells us that no Christian may practice deceit, which is what dressing up as something that you aren’t really is. Jesus did not lie or deceive, so what part should we take in it? We shouldn’t take any part in it.
Proverbs 26:18-19 - As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death, So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?
Psalm 101:7 - No one who practices deceit shall dwell in my house; no one who utters lies shall continue before my eyes.
Colossians 2:8 - See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.
Acts 20:35 - In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring ye ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
In other words, don’t go looking for a handout, but seek to help those who don’t have what you have. Maybe rather than going around, hunting the next person to give you candy, you should BUY candy, and got TO them, and give it out to THEM?
2 Corinthians 9:6 - The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
Luke 6:38 - Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
Titus 2:7-8 - Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.
Deuteronomy 18:9 - “When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations.
Is there anything about Halloween which is not an abomination about Halloween? (And no, keeping the kiddies happy isn’t the answer here. In fact what “makes people happy” shouldn’t ever be a part of it; it should have to do with what God’s Word declares. I’ll listen if there is a Biblical response to why it’s ok to celebrate Halloween, but until legitimate Scriptures are given, I’ll hold my stance. God’s Word is my law; not what articles say, or opinions that are made or what worldwide-known philosophers or whatever talk about it. Which is exactly the way it should be).
What would Jesus do about Halloween? Would he accept it and go on? Or would he have righteous anger against it, because it originated as a celebration of death, sorcery, sacrifice of human lives, and idolatry?
If we want candy...why not just go and BUY some? If we want to see our neighbors...why not just go visit them?
