Water baptism is a only a Symbol of that burial. It is ideal if it can take place immediately or soon after re-birth but that isn't always possible - it wasn't for me. I had been born again for about seven years before I was able to be baptised.

And I agree that not everybody that goes through baptism is born again. The do it for their own reasons or because their churches put pressure on them. And without the re-birth the baptism is all but meaningless.
Paul said we are buried with Christ in baptism.

If we are already born before being buried then we are buried alive.

Not cool.

How so? out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks (Luke 6:45).
Many will claim to know Jesus who don't. Many not only get baptised, but baptize others when they don't actually believe. That's why we are warned about false teachers. Doing this or that work, or saying certain words does not save.

Certain words as... "in the name of Jesus Christ"?

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Washed in the blood of Jesus, not water. Water baptism is symbolic of what has already happened, the old man has been buried that he should come forth in newness of life.

Even if the person is only getting baptized to fulfill a tradition? Or please his family?
There is no such thing as a pre-bapitismal multiple choice quiz.

The only requirement to be baptized was this....

36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

....referring to "..he that believeth AND IS baptized shall be saved...."

Saying the words doesn't save.
And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

How does one become justified?

For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.

nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.

For the remission of our sins via the spoken name of Jesus Christ.
For does not always mean in order to receive it can also mean on the account of..so saying Jesus was telling them to be baptized to receive remission is an idea, it it must be proven. And the rest of scripture can not support it

even John the Baptist demanding proof of remission before he would baptize people.

Exactly. And if you don't, you just got wet and worse, you lied by your actions.

But, they are in disguise as believers.
True, many a church have people who claim to be saved,

sadly many think they are saved but are not because they have yet to repent, they think, like Israel, they are saved because of all their works, like Israel they will get a rude awakening on judgment day unless they repent

2 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Saying "in the name of Jesus Christ" doesn't save?

The OT, which is a shadow of things to come in Messiah Jesus, clearly states that it is the BLOOD that atones for sin. One can get dunked in water until he/she is blue in the face, but without the blood of Jesus it's all in vain. People want a bloodless Gospel nowadays, but it doesn't exist.

Amen, we lie to ourselves and God if we don't believe with all of our heart prior to water baptism.

Especially those that skipped Acts 2:38 and claim to be in the Acts church.

And the blood is obtained by the spoken name of Jesus during water baptism.

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Again, I believe in water baptism because it fulfills all righteousness, but water does not cleanse away sin. It's the blood!

1 John 1
[7] But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

You quote from a verse(epistle) written to saints that obeyed Acts 2:38 already....

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

1 john 1 was not written to sinners nor Acts skippers.

Peter was preaching John's baptism of repentance. However, as we open up the Scriptures, and are taught a more perfect way, we realize that it's the BLOOD that cleanses of sin to fulfill the OT Scriptures.
