It's really odd that there's so much hostility towards teaching that there are Ten Commandments instead of just nine. No one found this objectionable until a couple of decades ago.

Sunday worship has nothing to do with Christ Jesus. In 321 Constantine made Sunday a holiday and declared that all Judges, city people and craftsman shall rest on the "venerable day of the sun". Sunday was Baals day as Baal means Lord. Hence the Lords Day.

And long before that... we see the Apostles meeting on Sunday in the New Testament agree.gif

The Sabbath was God's chosen day of worship. Baals day wasn't. Constantine decreed that worship was to be on the "venerable day of the sun".

And yet... under the New Covenant, there is NO commandment concerning any specific day of worship.

We are called to abide IN Christ on all days, resting in faith, worshiping the Lord continually by submitting our entire lives unto Him.

This is due to the old covenant law and regulations having been removed and the New Covenant being established by the Lord based on better promises. Many today are dishonoring and disrespecting the Lord by claiming that Christians are only called to worship and rest on just one day a week and can show NO evidence of their claims in the New Covenant.

The sabbath was ordained as part of the Mosaic Law in Exodus 20:8-11. Moses served as a high priest (Exodus 28:1) and as a prophet of the Lord, and He was faithful in his calling over his house (the old covenant).

Hebrews 3:5,6
And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; But Christ as a Son over His own house; whose house are we, IF we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

Now, there is a new house, the Body of Jesus Christ! Under the New Covenant that the Lord said would come forth, we see Jesus Christ as the High Priest. The old covenant with it’s laws and regulations have been taken away because thru Jesus Christ a new and better covenant has come in to place.

Hebrews 10:9
Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

(God said He would make a New Covenant - see Jeremiah 31:31-34)

Hebrews 8:6
But now hath Jesus obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

And with the changing of the priesthood, God’s Word tells us there is also a change of the law.

Hebrews 7:12
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Some adherents to keeping Saturday sabbath frequently ask “where did the Lord take Saturday sabbatrh way?”
The answer can be found in Hebrews 10:9 and in Hebrews 7:12.

I would like to touch on a topic that will impact us Seventh Day Adventists prophetically more than any other. The issue of separation/union of church and state in the United States. We are currently observing a burgeoning relationship between the church, represented by various Pastors, priests, and lay leaders of the Christian faith in the U.S., and government, represented primarily by those ruling from the White House, particularly the President and vice-President of that nation, Donald Trump and Mike Pence. Of course, not all churches are okay with this arrangement. Many are very opposed to any union whatever between the Christian faith and the civil power, including our own church. Certainly liberally represented among those Christian leaders currently attending White House events, (including Bible studies, prayer breakfasts etc) are those in support of Zionism, the re-establishment of Israel in the Middle East. (Interesting to note that there is a large segment of Jews not in favor). These Christian Zionists firmly believe that the recently established (1948) nation of modern Israel is a prophetic event, the major sign of the second coming of Jesus. Anything less than full political support for Israel in providing arms, and finance, and global support in the U.N., is considered rank heresy by these Christian leaders. This seems to be a very convivial relationship thus far. Israel has never been stronger, the only nuclear armed country in the Middle East, a nation that is far more of a threat to all her neighbours than vice versa, both political parties in the U.S. awash with Jewish money, and a U.S President more than willing to reciprocate evangelical support in the voting booths with political moves on the world stage, such as moving the U.S. Embassy to the Israeli capital, Jerusalem. The promise given by the President in the lead up to the 2016 election seems to be coming to pass. “I will give you power”.

A little over two hundred years ago one of the founding fathers of the United States Benjamin Franklin, said the following...
“When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that it's professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, 'tis a sign, I apprehend, that it's cause is a bad one”.
Thomas Paine said...“Persecution is not an original feature in any religion; but is always the strongly marked feature of all law-religion, or religions established by law”.
I find those two quotes above highly significant particularly in the context of Seventh Day Adventist eschatology (last day/end timetheology). We are a prophetic church. We see prophecy in an almost unique perspective, which offers us a unique view of the identity and characters of last days entities or personalities. The first beast of Revelation 13 for example we hold to be representative of the Papacy. The scripture describes this beast as having the “feet of a bear”. (Vs 2)
This particular descriptive of this composite beast takes us back to Daniel chapter 7 in which is described four beasts representing 4 distinct empires of the old world. These empires from antiquity have passed down characteristics that today are not only an echo to the past, but a revelation of the present. This revelation is of the very 'Antichrist', whose character and practice lies in direct contradistinction to the character of the true Christ. So how does the feet of a bear characterise the Papacy? We understand that the bear represents Media-Persia. Reigning over a vast territory won in battle against Babylon, Media-Persia is not described in great detail in scripture, but what scripture does reveal concerning this empire is highly significant. In Daniel 6 we read a familiar story. Daniel was at the head of a shortlist to be Prime Minister of the entire Media-Persian empire second only to the King. His fellow Princes (there were 3 altogether and Daniel the chief) as well as a coterie of CEOs and mid-management didn't like having Daniel in charge over them. The King wanted 'no damage' in the accounts of the empire. (Dan.6:2) Thus Daniel, having 'an excellent Spirit' and therefore honest, faithful, and without fault' (vs4) was not one to condone corruption. This clearly did not suit the other rulers and overseers, as they wanted to take advantage of their position, and having an honest boss was not on their agenda. So they made up a law, a religious law, by which to trap Daniel and thus cost him his life. ( Note that Revelation 13 also reveals a coming religious law to be enforced by the state power to bring an end to the lives of faithful Christians) As we know however, God had other plans. God was not going to stand by and watch His beloved Daniel pay the ultimate penalty for observing all righteousness. So why is all this so significant, and what does it mean for us today?
Three times in the sixth chapter of Daniel is mentioned a particularly important characteristic that pertains in particular to Media-Persian law. “Now O King, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not”.
“Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.”
“Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.” Daniel 6:8,12,15.
So what is the relationship of the Catholic Church regarding law?
From wiki...There are 1752 canon laws currently binding on the Catholic Church. The canon law of the Catholic Church is the system of laws and legal principles made and enforced by the hierarchical authorities of the Catholic Church to regulate its external organisation and government and to order and direct the activities of Catholics toward the mission of the church. It was the first modern legal system and is the oldest continuously functioning legal system in the West.......The actual subject material of the canons is not just doctrinal or moral in nature, but all encompassing of the human condition.
What we have my friends is one startling mirror image of the Media-Persian empire evident in Catholicism. I do not think I need to go into the nature of “Papal infallibility” or Papal supremacy in order to further accentuate the above point, some of which cannot be changed or altered. The Catholic religion is founded on law. It is not founded on the gospel. It stands on Persian feet. It runs on Persian feet. Those feet are its foundation. A foundation based on law and judicial mandates which if not obeyed were punishable by various penalties which in the dark ages often led to death. Ironically, one of the clearest and most powerful declarations in favour of church/state separation came from the only Catholic President ever elected in America, John F Kennedy.
“I believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute – where no Catholic prelate would tell the President (should he be Catholic) how to act, and no Protestant minister would tell his parishioners for whom to vote – where no church or church school is granted any public funds or political preference – and where no man is denied public office merely because his religion differs from the president who might appoint him or the people who might elect him.”
He added, “I believe in an America that is officially neither Catholic, Protestant nor Jewish – where no public official either requests or accepts instructions on public policy from the Pope, the National Council of Churches or any other ecclesiastical source – where no religious body seeks to impose its will directly or indirectly upon the general populace or the public acts of its officials – and where religious liberty is so indivisible that an act against one church is treated as an act against all.”
Well, the devil has covered his wagers in this election and both of those who seem headed to stand for the office have Jesuits in the equation, so not much we can do when it comes to choice.

None of the Scripture you've quoted says anything about a "Saturday sabbath."

And with the changing of the priesthood, God’s Word tells us there is also a change of the law.

Hebrews 7:12
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Can't be the same law.

Verses 16-18 of Hebrews 7 says the law that is being changed is carnal/fleshly, weak, and unprofitable:

Heb 7:16-18
16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

But Romans 7 says that the law is spiritual, holy, just and good.

Rom 7:12-14
12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. 13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

Verse 14 even directly contrasts "spiritual" with "carnal," thoroughly impeaching the theory that Hebrews 7 is talking about the moral law being changed.

Are we really supposed to believe that "carnal" = "spiritual" and that "weak and unprofitable" = "holy, just, and good?"

I'm just reading the Bible here—no Sabbatarian hocus-pocus required.

There is absolutely ZERO connection to the mark being given to control buying and selling and anything related to Sunday worship.
"Sunday is our MARK of authority. The Church is ABOVE the Bible and this transferrence of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact". - Catholic Mirror.

"Of course the catholic church claims the change was her act. An the act is the MARK of her ecclesiastical authority in religious matters." - Chancellor to Cardinal Gibbons

The Beast tells you what it's mark is, but you refuse to believe it, which puts you in grave danger of accepting it.
The mark has nothing to do with Sunday worship. It tells us plainly it has to do with buying and selling.
Nah, Satan would never be interested in our worship, right? Buying and selling boycotts are the tools to make people worship the Beast and receive the Mark.
It's not even worship related at all. It is financial related. The worship of the beast and it's image is NEVER mentioned with Sunday or the first day of the week or ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. Anything that says otherwise is deception and takes away from what scripture actually does say. Leave the SDA eisegesis out of prophecy.
So, you who has no idea who the Beast is presumes to instruct others about what its Mark is or is not? That's rich.

This is good stuff, PM. I would say, though, that when a person is sealed in the proper, Biblical way there is, in fact, a 'containment' aspect.

I spent the first 26 years of my life immersed in the 'eternal security' doctrine as taught by my family's Southern Baptist tradition. And I truly believe that in my subconscious mind I never really believed it.

Because I would hear these sermons saying that once I was saved, my standing with God ws irrevocable. But the next week (and my dad complains of this same thing which is why he will only listen to Joel Osteen these days) I would hear a sermon about how I'd better be sure my "calling and election" was "sure" and that if I had any doubts about whether my initial conversion experience was genuine, I had best proceed as if I were starting all over from scratch.

The net effect of this brand of homelitics was that I had no real assurance at all, and what was preached as "righteousness by faith" was, after all, merely "righteousness by sincerity," with the sincerity just being another of the many 'works' that people are inclined to do to try and save themselves. Sincerity is not faith. Otherwise, there will be a lot of sincere, malicious actors in Glory.

There are a couple of things that Adventists are taught that I'm sure you'll be familiar with regarding this admittedly somewhat side-topic.

First, that legalism or salvation by creature merit is the foundation of every false religion. And here we see the 'eternal security' doctrine exposed as just one more casualty in that war against true saving faith.

Secondly, we're taught that the sealing (not the seal, itself) of God is a settling into the Truth. The "Truth" label is incendiary, of course, because of the incessant tension between truth as doctrine and Truth as it is in Jesus. C.D. Brooks used to solve this dilemma by thundering: "CHRIST IS DOCTRINE!!!" from the pulpit. And I took it at face value all those years ago, but I now know that he was really on to something.

But I'm getting off track. The 'settling into the Truth' idea has come to mean something increasingly important to me through the years because as I see it playing out in my own experience I noticed how naturally organic and beneficial it has been. I wouldn't trade the assurance of God's ability to keep me secure in His saving love that I have today for all the eternal security sermons ever preached.

When Satan comes calling to try to make me doubt my likelihood of overcoming to the end (which is becoming increasingly few and far between), Scripture after Scripture pops into my mind that are well able to repel his nonsense. I never had that kind of security as an 'eternal security' adherent.

And I believe the reason we have less success than we should in opposing this assuredly "doctrine of devils" is because we traditionally expend too much effort in refuting the counterfeit, and too little in advancing the genuine.

Of course, Isaiah was right, but in today's post modern, anti-organizational, critical theory (oppressed vs. oppressors), neo-New Covenant neo-Christianity world of sophisticated philosophy, the Old Testament is somehow the oppressor.

Not until we can convince folks that Christ wasn't just "whistling Dixie" when He said "I and my Father are one" (as if Christ had nothing to do with giving The Law And The Prophets) will they (pardon my "us-and-them" expression) be able to see that God's law and the transcript of His character contained therein are as immutable and unchanging as His very unfathomable essence.

If the Immanuel/God with us of the New Testament isn't the I AM of the Old, then we Christians are all a bunch of flimflam artists.

The Sabbath is the 4th article of the moral law, and if the moral law was of the mind of God changeable, then Christ, His Son need not to have died.

It is JEWISH when applied according to JUDAISM. The Christian idea of God's sabbath is Sunday, the day Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Sunday is when the early Church in Apostle Paul's day gathered to worship, because Saturday banned travel because of the sabbath keeping required by Judaism, which controlled how people lived in Judea.
"In vain do they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men".
In Col.2, Paul told CHRISTIANS to not allow ANY MAN TO JUDGE regarding a holy day, or sabbath, or meat, etc.

Col 2:14-17
14
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

16
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
KJV
Paul's referring to annual feast day "sabbaths" - not the weekly Sabbath of the Lord. Feel free to ask why and I'll show it to you from Scripture.
Since Christ came, and died on His cross, blotting out the "handwriting of ordinances" in God's law, no man is to JUDGE Christians regarding "meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:".
"Handwriting of ordinances that was against us" refers to the Mosaic Law, not the Ten Commandments. Feel free to ask why and I'll show you from Scritpure.
What is to happen in the world to come, AFTER Christ's future return, is a different matter, and does not apply to TODAY.
Absolutely applies. "Jesus Christ, the SAME yesterday, today, and forever."
Thus Jewish believers on Jesus Christ are NOT to judge Christians for NOT keeping the Jew's weekly sabbath per old covenant law. Keep it if you want, but don't try to force it, or even attempt to make others feel guilty because they don't keep it per the old covenant law.
The Sabbath was made for M-A-N, not J-E-W so therefore calling it "Jewish" is a capital mistake. The only difference between the OC and NC is where the law is written. A true NC Christian has the 4th commandment written on his heart. People should feel guilty when the find out they're routinely breaking one of God's commandments.
Why don't you quit telling lies; you and I both well know that you are speaking of old covenant laws, and not really about The Holy Spirit.
Lies? The Sabbath existed long before Mount Sinai and continued after the Mosaic Law was nailed to the Cross. Hebrews 4:9 Peshitta says it's our duty to keep holy the Sabbath day.
I showed you Christian Doctrine about God's laws according to Apostle Paul under The New Covenant, and Paul never said anything about keeping the Jewish sabbath old covenant tradition that you push, and likewise nor many other old covenant requirements that you follow from your worship by the system of Judaism.
Read where Paul (most believe it was Paul) wrote in Hebrews 4:9 Peshitta where he says it's our duty.
So why don't you admit it, even in your speech above AGAINST Christians, you suggest that you are not really a Christian, and have come here pushing lies against Christ Jesus.
What makes you think Christians are granted a 10% discount on God's law? Is it wrong for catholics to bow to images or do you grant them a 20% discount?

Why are you so desperate to void the 4th Commandment BBJ? Is it because God's seal is set on those who have their hearts set on obedience shows you up?

Saturday sabbath was replaced in the New Covenant with a better REST that can only be found by abiding IN Christ walking in faith... EVERY DAY, not just one day

Some of you sabatarians claim keeping Saturday sabbath is not a requirement for salvation... if that is truly the sabatarian position then you all are wasting your time going around claiming Christians are required to keep Saturday sabbath and then turn around and claim it has nothing to do with our salvation.

Trying to combine parts of the old covenant with the New Covenant causes confusion for those doing such, and SDA people are definitely confused people agree.gif

The Sabbath was made for M-A-N, not J-E-W so therefore calling it "Jewish" is a capital mistake. The only difference between the OC and NC is where the law is written. A true NC Christian has the 4th commandment written on his heart.

A true NC Christian is led by the Lord to abide IN Christ walking in faith, resting from doing their own works... ALL seven days a week... not just one day a week.

This is where the SDA religion is confused as they reject the better promises of the New Covenant and instead they cling to the old covenant that has been taken away by the Lord so He could establish the new.

It's too bad to see the SDA religion be so confused about this and their rejection of the New Covenant..

People should feel guilty when the find out they're routinely breaking one of God's commandments.

Is your claim is not going to church on Saturday is a sin? Those not observing Saturday are unrighteous? clueless-scratching.gif

Hebrews 4:9 Peshitta says it's our duty to keep holy the Sabbath day.

And you'll notice NO specific day is given... under the New Covenant, ALL... ALL days are to be holy unto the Lord!

What makes you think Christians are granted a 10% discount on God's law?

In the New Covenant... we are under grace, NOT the Law of Moses.

Hebrews 10:1 tells us that the law having a shadow of good things to come are not the actual things to come. In Hebrews 4:8 we see that if Jesus had given them rest (old testament saints under the Law of Moses aka the Levitical Law), then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. God's Word tells us that no one is justified before God by the law (Galatians 3:11), therefore there had to be a New Covenant or a New Testament. (see Hebrews 10:16, and Jeremiah 31:31)

So, the law of Moses under the OLD Covenant was not the end destination that the Lord desired for man. The NEW Covenant is the desired end destination God desires for man which is for His people to be born again abiding In the Body Christ with the Holy Spirit abiding in them. The New Covenant is based on better promises than the old covenant was. (Hebrews 8:6)

The sabbath was ordained as part of the Mosaic Law in Exodus 20:8-11. Moses served as a high priest (Exodus 28:1) and as a prophet of the Lord, and He was faithful in his calling over his house (the old covenant).

Maybe the SDA religious peoples will get it someday and quit being so confused.

Saturday sabbath was replaced in the New Covenant with a better REST that can only be found by abiding IN Christ walking in faith... EVERY DAY, not just one day

No, the New Covenant is Everlasting, forward and backward. No one was ever saved by the Old Covenant. And the law that was changed per Hebrews 7 has been shown not to be the Ten Commandments.

Some of you sabatarians claim keeping Saturday sabbath is not a requirement for salvation... if that is truly the sabatarian position then you all are wasting your time going around claiming Christians are required to keep Saturday sabbath and then turn around and claim it has nothing to do with our salvation.

No one ever asks if any of the other 9 commandments are a requirement for salvation. I wonder why.

And you'll notice NO specific day is given... under the New Covenant, ALL... ALL days are to be holy unto the Lord!

Not even possible. Secular work must be done sometime.

The good things to come are Christ Himself replacing the sacrificial animal Sanctuary service, which never saved anyone, anyway.

The sabbath was ordained as part of the Mosaic Law in Exodus 20:8-11. Moses served as a high priest (Exodus 28:1) and as a prophet of the Lord, and He was faithful in his calling over his house (the old covenant).

The Sabbath is the 4th article of the moral law, and if the moral law was of the mind of God changeable, then Christ, His Son need not to have died.
