Rich (in the World) pretty much Always means an abundance of WEALTH, MONEY, POSSESSIONS.

And no doubt the envy and jealously and criticism OF MANY.

Rich (in the Spiritual Sense) means having Achieved the PROMISE of Forever LIFE, "and" Foreverness to BE WITH thee Lord God.

For a man WHO, has Achieved Spiritual Richness....the Lord BLESSES that man WITH an Abundance of WORLDLY WEALTH....

WHY?

The REASON IS SIMPLE....
He who Has MUCH, can Give MUCH...
Which is the BASIS;
...taught TO TAKE CARE of YOUR OWN
...taught To Give in "CHARITY".

Millions of people, TAKE, TAKE, TAKE.
I am not speaking of a helping hand but rather generationally, G-pa, pa, son, g-son...
...Welfare whores.
And there are those (the ones who TAKE from one to Give to another), who Promote and Encourage and Beg for (compelled) enacted Laws to support ...
...the Making and Keeping of Welfare whores.

THEY are NEITHER Rich Spiritually or Financially....and but a Burden.

As far as SOME Clerics Living Laviously, Some do BY what others would LOOK and SEE and think, that ain't right. I have no issue with that. I am not their financial manager to determine the millions that are spent on others through their ministry, or the funds they use in helping their own family members and taking care of their own families.

JVI, lives a comfortable lifestyle, but would not say he lives a lavish lifestyle.

Glory to God,
Taken
yes ok, ty

Last time I looked Jesus appointed His Church that job over 2000 yrs ago.

So, sorry, that job is already taken!!
Jack Van Imp is just one of the crowd.

Hey, ByGrace, did you indeed mean to say "crowed" (rather than "crowd") as in, one who crows his Bible-expertise, in self-promotion? ;) Clever play on words.

Are you fam with the Dunning/Kruger effect?
Well I mean with what that means?
Guess we're all fam with it lol, like "Hegelian"
but you basically grasp what "determinist" means?

I'm familiar with the Dunning-Kruger Effect but don't think it particularly applies here, bbyrd.

I was addressing you.

But okay by me, if you choose not to answer.

So what's your point? My post about God telling us to cease from man, meaning to stop listening to men's doctrines, was easy enough to understand.

Matt 16:6-12
6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

8 Which when Jesus perceived, He said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

12 Then understood they how that He bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

What is your point, sorry.
Know what a cardinal is, been following this convo?

A cardinal is a red bird that is a seed-eater and hangs around all winter. A "Cardinal" in the RCC is a high muckety-muck in the Roman "church" hierarchy from whose ranks, the Pope is elected. Which one did you mean?

Uh, that verse does not apply to one saying Jesus is coming soon, as being a false prophet.

The Matthew 24:23-26 Scripture does apply to a false one who 'plays' Jesus Christ. Jesus told us to not follow that false one. So the idea of a false prophet does apply to that passage.

@Lady Crosstalk

I remember when we were kids doing homework, my older brother said to me.
<I just write untidy and messy if I can't spell a word , then no ones knows if I can spell it or not!! >

Maybe I should write more like Mark= bbyrd009, then it wouldn't matter how I spelled it! I understand him perfectly well. :)

That's what I thought you might have meant. I think that JVI can certainly quote "chapter and verse" from the Bible, but he may believe that he is more competent than he is or even "infallible"--don't know.

We ALL certainly "see through a glass darkly", but with different clarity. So where some see "men that look like trees", some see the "trees" for being "trees", but the species may be blurred.

As for JVI, the evidence points to a conclusion that he can't distinguish either "men" or "trees", or buildings, or mountains, or too much else for that matter.

If a person can't get the simple stuff, the difficult will be impossible, -- as evidenced.

You may be right. Evangelicalism is loaded up with "hirelings" who care much more about providing themselves with a handsome living than they do the sheep. The most recent example of "sheep shearing" is Pastor James MacDonald of the mega church, Harvest Bible Chapel. The accounts of financial mismanagement, extravagant spending on himself and his nepotism, would probably make the fictional, Elmer Gantry seem like a fine, upstanding person. The saga continues at "The Elephant's Debt" blog and Julie Roys' blog. It's mostly a Chicago story but the Chicago newspapers have picked it up of late, as well as "talk radio" there. All evidence points to MacDonald being exceedingly greedy and milking the congregants of millions as well as robbing from Harvest Bible Fellowship (the church-planting arm of the denomination) and funding his "Walk In the Word" radio ministry from HBC funds. Harvest Bible Fellowship has broken away and calls itself the "Great Commission Collective" now (and they want their money back from HBC). So far, there has been little to no comment from MacDonald except that he has demanded that he be given the Walk In the Word ministry as well as $2 million in extra payments--or that he would file a lawsuit against the Elders of HBC--including their wives! He needs to be told to go pound sand. The multi-campus Harvest Bible Chapel Chicago is $40 million in debt due mostly to his extreme over-spending (and maybe other things?). And, on top of that, the stories about his abuse of the staff and nastiness toward anyone who displeased him are legend around HBC. Hard to understand how he got away with it so long. The Board of Elders of HBC fired him a month or so ago. But it should have been done at least five years ago. However, many (who are ignorant of his schemes) at Harvest, worship "jMac". He should never be in a pulpit again--but he probably will be.:(

Dear LC,

AMEN, and AMEN. We had our own RENOWN Hireling close by in Albuquerque who diverted our Radio Ministry giving into the Church funds, apparently so that he could get "his cut". And even in our small town which has about a dozen churches, the previous largest church pastor was hauled away in handcuffs for child porn; and the present largest church pastor (where we were attending) is a bald faced liar. Of course in one the lessor churches (where we had previously attended) the "youth pastor" statutorily raped a young girl whose mother was dying of cancer -- and was not only never prosecuted, but still LEADS THE MUSIC MINISTRY.

So it's not the size of the ministry, but the existence of the HIRELING. And if I'm mistaken, Jesus NEVER spoke well of the HIRELING!

With Blessings To YOU and YOURS!

I think we prolly all suffer from that to a greater/lesser extent?

That's a GREAT "Lazy man's excuse"! :)

... I was going to mow the lawn, but there was a cloud in the sky ...

Perhaps if you got off your nether quarters, you'd actually have an opinion as to exactly what JVI is correct in, and/or what he's incorrect in. But instead you offer platitudes. -- Don't waste our time ... :)
