Coffee made me crazy. And I know now that the caffeine caused adrenal fatigue that made me unable to function well except while high on the caffeine (because my natural adrenal output was severely hampered and diminished by being overtaxed and stimulated by the caffeine).

Now my problem is the caffeine in Mountain Dew. Far less caffeine that I was getting from coffee, but still enough to cause anxiety, restlessness, sleeplessness, palpitations, and energy crashes. So I'm trying to cut way, way back on it for that reason, but also because I'm learning how harmful sugar is in our modern diet. I mean really harmful. I'm a geek and I was looking into the science of losing weight (I've put on a few pounds, lol) and learned how sugar has destroyed us in our modern, western society. And...are you ready for this?...fat doesn't make you fat! Carbohydrates do!
That's exactly right! That's the science behind healthy keto....good healthy fats, moderate amounts of quality protein (and sometimes those overlap), and lots of healthy greens and low carb veggies..... occasional fruit, mostly berries. It trains your body to burn fat for fuel instead of carbs. Then your body burns it's own fat. :)

I have stomach problems and have had them for over 5 years now. I have to take immodium just to travel anywhere. I've been drinking about 6 small cups of coffee a day with one teaspoon of instant coffee per cup. I started drinking them because I was forced to take sedating medications for my schizophrenia. And once I started I haven't been able to lighten up or stop. I had two times that I didn't drink coffee for an amount of time and each time my stomach problems went away, the last was this last week. I'm now sure the problems are caused from caffeine. Therefore I would like to quit and slow down first so I don't have too bad of withdrawals. Please pray for me to do this. I'm already finding it difficult. And I just started today.
Praying for you, my Friend. Watermelon or watermelon juice will literally keep you up and alert at night without any nervousness. Not sure whether it will relieve caffeine withdrawal. I understand caffeine withdrawal symptoms rarely last longer than 10 days after caffeine has been laid aside completely. The LORD knows all about it and He will surely help you. :)

3 John 1:2 KJV: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Thanks BarnyFife. Yes I have a method I worked out to taper off slowly. I came up with it after starting this thread. So I thank the Lord for that. The withdrawals and addictiveness are too intense for me to quit cold turkey and withdrawal for 10 days. If I cut back to 3/4 the dose for 3-10 days and then 1/2 the dose for another 3-10 days that should quiet the withdrawals. I did something similar when I quit smoking 20 some years ago and it worked then.

What about trying tea, i don’t think it’s got as much caffeine in it, but might be enough and may be easier on your stomach xx

Thanks guys for your help. I found my measuring spoons. And I checked to see how much I was putting in with a heaping teaspoon from my small spoons. It was a tablespoon in the measuring spoons. And I found online that I was getting 300mg of caffeine per small cup of coffee. I've now lowered it to an actual teaspoon. Which means I'll be getting 100mg of caffeine per cup.

Ah, Mountain Dew. Before Red Bull, the diet staple of software programmers.

WHILE (code != WORKING) do
Drink Dew (n);
Update code;
Go to john and empty out Dew (n-1) while code compiles;
Go to vending machine and purchase Dew (n+1);
Test code;
n++
END WHILE
:D

I take medication for Atrial Fibrillation, and my cardiologist was quite clear on this point: Gotta restrict the caffeine input. One 8-ounce cup in the morning and one in the afternoon, which I cut with decaf to fill a 16-ounce thermos. No Red Bull for me.

Hey @devin553344, maybe Red Bull would be easier on the stomach than coffee?

Hey do you program code? I work C# and made software simulators in DirectX.

But as far as coffee intake. It's already starting to work. I just need to lower my intake.

I've done some coding off and on during a 40-year career. A long time ago, I did some floppy disk tester code in Intel 8086 assembler for the original IBM PC. Most recently it's been test scripts for hard disks and solid-state drives using a specialized language.

That sounds interesting. I was into game programming and made a game-windows program that I almost sold but stopped when I had problems in life. I also made a landscape walk thru system in 3D. It was really fun programming. Assembly is not for me. I only programmed assembly for my shader code to control the 3d graphics cards. Small world Lambano.

Thanks for the uplifting message. My health has not been well for a while now.

Well, assembly is difficult and impressive and must be used for hardware. And c# was easy to use and made my work pleasant. But what I did for a career was Computer Aided Design for companies using AutoCAD and Solid Works. AutoDesk came out with Fusion 360 which is free for personal use, which I've been using which does something similar to Solid Works. But for the past 6 years I've been working on a physics theory.

A physics theory? (If you can talk about it, and if it would mean anything to a layman.)

I chop up a few slices of ginger root and a couple of slices of lemon (skin included) with a teaspoon of honey...of course with hot water in a cup.... yum yum

A physics theory? (If you can talk about it, and if would mean anything to a layman.)
It calculates the measured charge radius of the proton and proposes a dipole charge radii for the neutron. And proposes a charge radius for the electron. Calculates the magnetic moments for the electron, proton and neutron. It calculates the gravitation for those particles as well. It establishes a new idea for the strong force. It proposes that charge is a hill of space-time while the strong force and gravitation are valleys of space-time. Charge is also a temperature equivalence principle where to radiating heat sources push each other apart. But charge has a sign that allows it to operate 180 degrees from it's natural pushing operation.

That's about as layman as I can get. And good morning Lambano.

I remember just enough from a 40-year-old college physics course (probably half of which is now obsolete anyway) to get the gist of it.
