Daniel 9:27 is pointing to the Anti-Christ/Satan and not the Messiah as is suggested in the quote above.
It is understanding the context that is important to understand. Too many Christians want to put/place Christ into many prophecies where the key figure in the Prophecy is Satan or one of his cohorts, instead.
The context shows us that Daniel's prophecy is of Messiah the Prince that shall come, and shall be cut off, and is the same prince of the people that shall come. Just because the translators did not capitalize prince the second time does not change the definition of the word. Messiah the Prince is the same Prince of the people that shall come. The people of Messiah the Prince that shall come are the Jews, who are responsible for destroying the city and sanctuary through spiritual adultery and abomination. The spiritual Kingdom of God, which the Holy City and Temple of old represented, according to Christ had already been taken from them, and their house already become desolate. This is long before the literal destruction that would come in 70 AD. It is Messiah the Prince that confirms the Covenant for one week, and He who in the midst of the week causes sacrifice and oblation to cease. It was continuing to offer up sacrifices and oblations after the cross and resurrection that made them utterly abominable before God.
Da 9:25-27 (KJV) Know therefore and understand,
that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the
Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall
Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and
the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And
he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Matthew 21:42-46 (KJV) Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures,
The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? Therefore say I unto you,
The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. And
when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.
Matthew 23:37-38 (KJV) O Jerusalem, Jerusalem,
thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under
her wings, and ye would not!
Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
Luke 1:68-69 (KJV) Blessed
be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;
Luke 1:71-73 (KJV) That
we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,
