In fact, let's look at Matt. 19 where the inquiring Believer asked Jesus about attaining eternal life. The man was a Jew, asking the question about eternal life from a Jewish perspective, which held that a prosperous life here on Earth lived in obedience to Mosaic Law would be carried to eternal life. Jesus' initial response acknowledged that particular belief. Back then, Jews had absolutely no concept about Eternal life in Heaven being an undeserved gift from God through Christ.

First off I will tell you this...in the Old Testament there was no spiritual salvation and God never offered heaven as a reward. The Jews in Christ's era knew of heaven, hell, and the devil for different reasons. So the Jewish perspective that you are referencing does not hold water. And as far as Christ's answer it was clear and concise.

Since that Jewish belief about the attainment of eternal life was, in their thinking, linked to a righteous temporal life through the Mosaic Law,

No such belief in the Old Testament. No path to heaven and no salvation.

Hence, Jesus introduced the notion of Discipleship by using the man's own misconception and ignorance of Heavenly life.

Neither the man or Christ was discussing discipleship....ie And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? The word disciple does not occur in that sequence of scriptures.

Remember, Apostle Peter did not actually become converted until after he had seen and accepted the Resurrected Jesus.

The Old Covenant is the Abrahamic Covenant, an eternal Covenant between God and Abraham:

The women who went to the tomb were just going through the motions of putting spices on what they believed was a dead Jesus. They had no special faith, or special mission from God. Face the facts.

Just because I understand all women does not mean I "hate them," as your very special imagination says. I do not hate dogs just because I recognize how they all are. I do not hate babies just because they are in their infancy utterly useless and demanding. Try to think with a rational mind.
