It's so simple. The devil hates the 4th commandment because it describes the job he wants to steal from God, even though he knows it's impossible, as he will be painfully reminded of when he experiences the "scorched earth" policy of Heaven for 1000 years.

Do you think I would do such a thing, CL? I'm suggesting that what was finished might not be what some people think was finished. The resurrection was necessary to complete the death to sin - new life in Christ motif. So it must have been something besides general atonement that was finished whet He announced it. Even the ascension was part of the atonement ("Touch me not, for I have not yet ascended to my Father"). The Sanctuary services weren't merely a wanton bloodbath of poor, dumb animals. The plan of salvation was on display for the world to see.

The Calvary event is and always will be the centerpiece of time, space, and matter. It is the sublime expression of Godly (self-sacrificing, other-centered) love. Words can't describe the glory and beauty of it. The altar of burnt offering was at the entrance to the tent of meeting, not the ultimate destination--the Holy of Holies. But being at the entrance, it was the way for the sinner and the end. But atonement is not completed there.

What was finished (besides the first phase of redemption) was the unfallen angels' sympathy for Satan. Did you not read the chapter called "It Is Finished" in Desire Of Ages when you were an Adventist?

What was finished was the Old Covenant. Otherwise "NEW" has no meaning if the old covenant was still in affect.

When I was growing up in mid-20th century America, the ten commandments were the standard of morality for Christians. My Southern Baptist grandmother often asked me to mow her lawn (about an acre). But she would never allow me to do it on Sunday.

Lately, I'm hearing more and more about a doctrine which states that the ten commandments were nailed to the cross and that the Holy Spirit has replaced them. I recently asked my very aged father about this and he said that he'd never even heard of such a thing.

As it is impossible to keep the whole law, everyone is cursed.

We read in the Bible that everyone who hangs on a tree is cursed. Jesus was cursed for our sins, and it is our faith in His redeeming work that saves us.

We are saved by faith and not by works, the same as the Old Testament patriarchs.

Moses would have never been saved for his works, but there he is in the book of Hebrews among the redeemed.

So like I say, the law in Judaism condemns us, but Jesus saves us.

I agreed with you until the last one. None of them were repeated in the New Covenant. They were the bottom line, but never went deep enough to make anyone righteous. Someone with hatred in his heart may still not murder - the bottom line.

I understand your confusion having once been SDA, and am not mocking you or your beliefs that the Old Covenant still is in force. You already have all of the new covenant you need to be saved, but have hung on to the old as well, not knowing the meaning of you can't put new wine into old wine-skins. I believe once you said something about covenant theology. In any covenant ALL of the covenant is in force, or NONE of it is. You can't just keep the Ten Commandments and Leviticus 11 laws, and not the feasts too. The New Covenant has laws that go far beyond the Ten Commandments, establishing the true law of God of loving God with all the heart, mind, and body, and loving your neighbor as yourself, and writing those two on our hearts. I know you believe it was the 10C that were written on our hearts, but the eternal laws are much more than they. That is found written about in the Old Covenant, but the Ten Commandments, holy as they were, could never bring a person to that level of holiness. They were commanded to merely not murder, when the core of the sin was hate, not addressed. The same was said of adultery. They were not to commit the actual act, but nothing was said about lusting after another person's spouse. See how incomplete and how far from the eternal law of God when seen side by side?

Jesus came to take care of the inner core issues of sin and introduced His updated version of the Old commandments of the Father and what they were when He started showing His own commandments in the Sermon on the Mount. After the Day of Pentecost, Jesus cleansed those who repented and believed on Him by eradicating the sin nature (the problem source) and empowering us with His sinless Spirit and wrote the actual eternal law of God to love God with all your heart, mind and body, and love your neighbor as yourself into our new nature. Now look at the New Covenant laws and see how they complete the eternal laws of God when seen side by side.

Love God with all your heart, mind, and body, and love your neighbor.

1 John 3:23-24 "And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. 24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

John 15:10 "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love."

They are two similar but separate sets of commandments. I know well your comeback that Jesus and the Father are one, but you need to read this a few times if you still can't see the difference.

As far as what I see about you, you have the actual eternal laws of God written on your heart and love Jesus, but you mistakenly think they are the 10C, so therefore add the Sabbath which was the sign of the Old Covenant, but not the New. The Cup of the New Covenant is the sign of the New.

Personally, I didn't think you meant I was devoid. I have been baptized in the Spirit when I was almost 30 and the Spirit wrote the eternal laws of God on my heart, which are more than the commandments of the Old Covenant (Exodus 34:28), to make me lacking nothing I need to be saved. I actually felt a complete change to my nature take place and I couldn't stop smiling.

Well, I don't believe that God has abandoned this State of Israel. That is Replacement Theology. But they are still partially blinded for a couple more years, then all of them in that State will be saved.
