Water shortages, gas, and blackouts - oh my!

Everyone also knows about the gas thing, I think. Remember months ago talking to @JohnDB about not trusting the grid and thinking I was paranoid about believing we would experience blackouts everywhere at some point.

Turns out- not really all that paranoid

Except the 3 different kinds of wild animals have been replaced with current environmental problems

The pipeline works just fine...billing the customers along it's path? That's what got hacked.
Colonial shut down their own pipeline...no one else.
And the news media caused the panic buying and hording...there never was a shortage. The tanker drivers bringing gas to the stations couldn't keep up.

The rest of that news is BS... because at this point no one wants to hear good news. So they make up more bad news.

I really wanted to go on a camping trip this year, but due to the fact that gas is currently so expensive (at least in our area and probably other areas as well since there is a shortage) it's going to have to wait until next year. Besides that, we have out of town family coming to see us this summer and working on saving our money of getting some trees cut down that are in danger of falling down soon anyways.

People pay for that!? I didn't know. One of my uncles owned a forestry business. My other aunt from the other side of the family made a ton of money by selling him the old trees on her property.

It's alright, there's always next year. :) We have our virtual camping trip coming up in June though. ;)

Yeah, I do believe that's why we're waiting to get estimates right now.

You can't hack a valve...it has no internet connection. It's motor controls and instrumentation...dumb systems.... complicated but no internet connection. No place to put one in. I've built them...I would know. Pressure, temperature, flow rates...all that stuff. Most is manual requiring someone to open a valve...billing is another story.

Yes...
Usually lumber is around $0.40/board foot this time of year.
It's currently $1.50/board foot. So many houses being built right now that lumber mills can't keep up. Lots of small lumber mills have started up but it's not enough to keep the lumber supply going.

They are somewhat expecting it to go to $2.00/board foot by end of summer. Currently it's down from highs because of the CBOE trading...but it's going back up.

OSB and plywood factories are at full production. It takes two full years to make one and get it to produce.

Bidding wars for homes over asking price is common currently.

I figured you would know about that out of anybody here. I thought something was up.

I will be stocking up on a few gallons of water, if the Lord wills it, just to be safe. Normally, I'm super skeptical, and it's really not about the news article at all, I'm in WA, but something makes me think I need it. Can't explain it.

You might want to check on natural gas generators too. Consumer Reports is a great source to find the highest rated ones.

I've been led a lot lately and I haven't lacked in ANYTHING. (Thank the Lord)

I can't have a gas generator here, unfortunately, but I do have a handcrank little generator to charge phones in an emergency. I have a stocked supply, too. Neighbors have been good to me.

I do find it strange that both of my neighbors, one has been here for a year and the other 5-6 years maybe, are both moving long distance in the same week. Makes me wonder if they're getting out in time for something! Or maybe coincidence

I know why they're both going, but I remember a lot of times God protected and provided without me realizing I'd need it.

Went on an environmental craze right before Covid. Got all sorts of reusable things... And a bidet! Lol did not realize how important that one would be.

God provides without us knowing.

A bidet? That's a new one when thinking of environmental products.
