The works you do ; are always from God.
Anytime you willingly put God first and Love Him; you will desire to Love Others.
In this life there are many judgments and assumptions we make when we come across others, the best thing a person can do is keep their mind on Christ and remember everything that He had suffered, and endured while living and walking on this earth.
He was beaten, shunned, mocked, undesirable to some other than for healing purposes, while on the cross they wagged their hands at him in public saying you are the Son of God come down from there then.
The works you will do will come from Above - a gift from the Father - the gift of the spirit of Christ/Holy Spirit living with-in you.
Never expect love back from anyone just show love towards them; along with being truthful too. It's difficult and it is inquires that of suffering... suffering on behalf of Christ - because He suffered for all people for the Love of His Father, and the Love for Others.
Never trick or deceive yourself as though you are the one performing the 'good works' because that is saying you are doing it by your own effort and takes credit away from the Father who rightly deserves the credit.
Take care,
