Come on now....this isn't about drug users....it's about medical marijuana now being used by both young and old and it's acceptance in society.
The fact that my own cousin who suffered chronic hypertension and used to take 5....FIVE....blood pressure medications to try to control it says a lot to me....
Even the 5 pills didn't get it to a healthy normal range....doctors were considering adding another medication on top of what she already took until one doctor suggested trying medical marijuana...
She takes in a liquid form....and for 8 months now her blood pressure has been NORMAL....and the doctors are amazed at how well it is working versus the pills...5 of them...
So my thought about it is still uncertain but when it is right in front of you what argument do I have?

I understand your point, but it was not my point. All do respect Lady Heart2Soul.
Even the Mayo Clinic will tell that the use of marijuana as a painkiller or for other medical problems is just now being researched. And they list the bad side effects.
But there is enough personal testimonies that would suggest that it does have some benefits.
I do not think that anyone is arguing that point. And my conversation with Mantis is not about pills.
It is about smoking pot and he is trying to get me to believe that this horrible chronic pain can be relieved with smoking marijuana. I explained that it is between him and God and no one should judge. My concern is with smoking marijuana and driving. If you are going to smoke enough of it to relieve horrible chronic pain then you are not in any condition to drive....chronic pain...day after day.

They are attempting to extract elements of cannabis to treat various ailments without the high. I guess CBD is part of that. LOL But no one is standing in line for that....they want the stuff that gives the high.

I have more experience with this than a I want....that is just the way it goes...some humorous.
Had a fellow helping my daughter move. He is in the front yard and I go to introduce myself. The window was open and I reached in to shake his hand. The smell of pot was so strong that it burnt my eyes. So I say, Having a good time? He chuckles and says, Don't worry I have my medical card. So I respond with, And your prescription says specifically it is ok to drive? He gives me the deer in the headlights look. I told him that he needed leave my daughter alone or he was going to need a lot more pain killers.

Oh yes you have to love this....CBD GUMMIES....!!!
Calling it medicinal marijuana does not change anything.
Whether it is illegal marijuana or medical marijuana or legal marijuana the person that is killed because you were driving stoned is not going to tell the difference.
Most medical marijuana cards are to stoners.
Look at the lines, you can tell they are stoners and nobody that is that ill could stand in a line that long.
We are not prepared to handle all the stoned potters on the highway...you send your family out with those that are completely stoned out of their mind.
It makes physical changes in the brain that are permanent. For those that have babies and children in the home, the pot smoke can alter their future. This goes for CBD too....it makes permanent changes to the brain.

And then there is the propaganda machine....if you ask a doctor if they would prescribe marijuana or CBD, they will usually look at you like they have dog poop in their mouth...they answer with a resounding no! Then if you ask who does? They will say, quacks. The stoners know the names of the doctors that will prescribe to them. But on the internet, marijuana and CBD are golden! We have the right to smoke pot! Marijuana and CBD are the medical wonders of the century! Everyone should be stoned! I mean take pot for medicable purposes!

On the other side of the coin for those that are so horrible debilitated that they are home bound or bed ridden...who cares what they take. I don't care if it sends them to the land of OZ or Xanadu! But who is that horrible? Lets see all the hands for medical marijuana for those that are in horrible pain or disabled! Next question, how many of you drive while under the influence? And a lot of the medical marijuana, tax payers are paying for.

It is like the drunk in the bar at midnight that proclaims that he drives better drunk!

Medical marijuana users should agree to surrender their drivers license. What? A stoner is going to decide if he is good enough to drive.
I don't think they mean for us to travel much in the future.
Only electric cars, and electric is going to cost a LOT.
Easier to pay you to stay home, be quiet, stay out of their way.
So sure, give em drugs, As long as they don't give us any trouble.

I can almost hear the conversation like a fly on the wall.
LOL
Hugs

If I were you I would make sure I don’t have a beam in my eye.
So sorry you were made to endure that.... Pride and religion are the most wicked of mixtures. Remember what JESUS said to the Pharisees.
YOU BROOD of VIPERS!

And no one is judging....it is now legal in almost every state.:D

Alcohol is legal everywhere, but that doesn’t change the Biblical fact that no drunkard shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.

I see no difference between getting high and getting drunk, to God, so the important key is drinking moderately without getting drunk, and not smoking enough to get high.

BTW any kind of smoke from burning something organic can cause lung cancer, whether it’s firewood, tobacco, or hemp.

My own opinion about weed is, God made hemp for rope, not dope.

True but it comes in many forms which is what my relatives use.

I remember back in the 70s, before paraquat, the lumber you'd get in Mexican weed. When the rest was gone, we'd try to smoke that. That stuff burnt your lungs, man!

In the 70s, I wanted weed legal! Until I stopped smoking it when I was 16.
For awhile here in Canada, it was decriminalized. Then the church got involved and once again influenced the government to outright ban it. Now it is fully legal and one can grow their own.
Maybe the lesson here is that the church should realize that it has to share the world.
Perhaps if it had stayed engaged at all levels of society, instead of looking down it's nose at it, we wouldn't be where we are today.
I think this is what Trump was trying to say when he met the church leaders at the White House early on in his presidency.
I miss Trump.

wow , just before I read your post I was thinking of @bbyrd009 …our Mark. He would have lots of helpful things to say in this thread. Right. ?

One of the greatest losses on this site was the complete banning of bbyrd009 … I miss him greatly …
well i guess maybe yall swayed them, as i have been reinstated :)

fwiw there is a huge difference in strains of pot, which i use quite sparingly btw, and while i prefer a sativa strain, my sister uses indica strains, which would make me pretty uncomfortable, even to throwing up, while she gets quite paranoid using sativa.

So, everyone is different i guess, plus we have vastly increased the potency of pot now. So i would say that one might understand that they have an endocannabiniod system, we are designed to function with cannabinoids iow, but i would go low-dose, as there are side effects for any strain.

For older users i might even recommend Tommy Chong’s new CBD, as all cannabinoids are processed by the liver, and can be a heavy load of, basically, pest repellent. I havent tried it yet but likely will, apparently no “high” at all, not that ive really gotten high in the last twenty years or so anyway

So very good to see you back my friend.

I won't comment on your post about which my own knowledge is limited. I did try it a few times years ago when it was illegal just about everywhere for all purposes.

My most memorable similar experience was getting caught at the border between Germany and France.
My traveling companion, a German student from California, had about a gram of hash(ish) in his packback when the French border guards searched it and confiscated his gram. It delayed our trip to Spain for a few hours. Do you know the difference between that and Marijuana?

i would say that these days, with pot potency being so high now, very little; hash is really just the active ingredients, that are extracted by various means, but pot active ingredients can easily run to 30% and up now anyway

Thank you! I hadn't a clue as to any difference. I just presumed but never asked anyone. I was a bit perturbed at the time because he had foolishly put the illegal substance where the border officers would easily find it... Fortunately they were content with confiscating it and allowed us to continue on our journey.

oh Mark I am so happy to see you here again. Yay!

PLEASE keep you nose clean and don’t try your ‘shock treatment ‘ posts …we don’t want to see you banned again!

You will notice the turn over of members , the membership here has changed a lot over the last year. I still don’t know many of the newer ones ( to me) …and many of the older ones like @ScottA and others have vanished.
I’m sure a lot has change too because of all the Covid and vaccine discussions almost drowning out any spiritual discussions , …I think we ( Christians ) still talk and are preoccupied too much with what is happening in the world , and like the parable of the sower , the godly seed word , gets choked out.

We are a spiritual people, not earthly people , we are just ‘passing through ‘ this world , and as we do we ‘drip Jesus ‘ as much as we can.

If I ever need to seriously combated pain …I will be asking your help and wisdom .

It’s lovely to see you , it’s made my day…and many thanks for the Admins that allowed you back again.
You are not the easiest of men to understand :D

Talk again later….

@Helen: Good to see you; great reference to the Parable of the Sower there; we do need the Word to change, challenge and encourage us in faith. :)
