I would like to see church as not only a pace to worship God reverently, but as a school for ministry. So Bible study, and lots of fellowship through that day. Not just meet for an hour or two. Eating together uplifting each other and the Lord, coming up with ways of active ministry.
Plan on staying all day.

Do you realize how difficult that is in a Pentecostal church!!!! Lol! :D:D:D

If they were silent, they may actually hear something worth while from God. Wisdom dictates that a person should not attempt to speak over a babble as you will not be heard.

I wonder if God has the same problems with the Church?

In other words, discipling. Teaching, especially the youth, (seeing it will be primarily their responsibility when Jesus comes) to share the gospel with their respective communities. They need to be prepared for the latter rain. To learn how to minister to both spiritual and physical needs of all they come across. Learning to be like Jesus. All churches need to wake up to the times and stop using church as a weekly mental head buzz.

Here are some things I would love to see in a church environment

1. Multicultural - members from all races joined together in worship to God.
2. Biblical - preaching the word and also relating that word into today's world.
3. Spirit Filled - expecting that the Holy Spirit will turn up in power when the word is preached, souls are saved and also in corporate worship.

4. Leaders - who are genuine, caring and selfless about those whom they have to one day, make an account.
5. Social - On all levels from the creche to the elderly. Everyone can enjoy some kind of social gathering.

I will stop there. Please add ore or create your own list....
Angelina, to be honest based on my travels and experiences and in reading history, there are and will be only a few brick-and-mortar 'functioning' 'churches,' that last more that a decade or so these days. They are found with people who are not only believers and trust the Lord, they live in a community separated from the world in general. They have forged a set of social norms and morays and lifestyles that are somewhat unique. These especially occurred before the 20th century. The Amish, the Hooterites are still some of these surviving types here in the US and Canada. And then there are cracks developing in these as well as the forces from the outside world slowly creep in and threaten their integrity. Some of these small types of groups also spin off and turn extreme, and into cults.

In today's fast paced living with each person carrying and exporting/importing their own set of values, social values, unique cultural views, and ways of communicating, within a mix of true believers and those that profess, although not really believers and many non-believers in these churches,' there is no chance for functionality that counts for anything. You end up with a multicultural mix of all types of 'believers,' and even some atheists. The 'well' is already contaminated, and needs to be capped and one must move on.

That is why many well-intentioned believers usually leave their congregations out of disappointment with their expectations of a 'church' and hopelessness that is does not function well, and so why bother anymore.

The best bet for true participation and shared leadership and functionality in a gathering of believers is to join a cell or a 'small' group of like-minded folks and keep the membership very low. And then these are not affiliated with any world recognized chain, of hierarchical organization as a 'religion' like most Protestant and especially Catholic groups are part of.

I'm just very pessimistic about any useful functionality even truly maturing in congregations these days Angelina.

Besides, Christ never promoted brick-and-mortar 'churches.' In fact he clearly spoke of the opposite. The congregation of believers are from the heart, in the world and living in the world as the church, quietly, unnoticed and generally unattached to a religion of the world.

We do the will of the Father and attend his church and in his Kingdom daily, through obedience to his the Son who sustains his Body world-wide, as we live our lives with others of different types: with our families, people in our neighborhood, our communities, counties and districts and even folks like you and me on these types of chat sites.

1. Multicultural, yeah definitely need more of that where we go.

I agree with all your points.

The foyer light switch.

Would not the Fire Escape lights be more important to be functioning than the foyer lights. At least the firs escape lights would help in the case of fire being detected by showing the way to escape the fire.

Perhaps the church has been screaming "FIRE, FIRE" to often to be believed by the people now.

The foyer light switch.
Huge wall clocks located in all corners of the building with the second hand moving at least twice the normal speed. I guess you can tell what I think of a so-called functioning air-conditioned/heated church building with pretty stained glass and lots of polished woodwork with very polite people filling the pews, smiling, and looking so sincere and pious, wearing their Sunday/Saturday best.

That's just it. Pentecostals can't be silent! They don't know how to be silent :D:D really! I remember going to a combined service at our local Baptist church. The minister asked the congregation to be silent and wait upon the Lord. Well you could tell which members were Pentecostal....they could not keep silent. Please read the above post!....and I would also add - calling out loud "Jesus", "Holy fire fall", speaking in tongues, shaking, jumping up and down, running etc...

So I guess that the "babble," in the Pentecostal Church, is the "word of God" then? :p:D:p:D:eek::rolleyes:

I'm saying that Pentecostals do not find it easy to stay silent when asked. It's almost impossible to keep a Pentecostal sitting in their respective seats and act in a sedate and conservative manner because the Holy Spirit is within them and all they want to do is give God the Glory! dance and praise him, Hallelujah!, Glory to God!, Thank you Jesus! 34y42t5.gifAmen and Amen!!!!

i would like to see the gifts of the Spirit manifest in church fellowships. On another thread some are saying they no longer exist and if some church leaders are teaching that sort of rubbish no wonder the church seems to be lacking.

To be honest with you I can't bring myself to watch any more videos claiming the latest prophetic word. Even from legit, respected teachers. It feels like they've been crying wolf for too many years now.
