Missorium of Emperor Theodosius I, who made Nicene Christianity the state church of the Roman Empire.
Nicene Christianity became the state church of the Roman Empire with the Edict of Thessalonica in 380 AD, when Emperor Theodosius I made it the Empire's sole authorized religion.[1][2] The Eastern Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodoxy, and the Catholic Church each claim to be the historical continuation of this church in its original form, but do not identify with it in the caesaropapist form that it took later. Unlike Constantine I, who with the Edict of Milan of 313 AD had established tolerance for Christianity without placing it above other religions[3] and whose involvement in matters of the Christian faith extended to convoking councils of bishops who were to determine doctrine and to presiding at their meetings, but not to determining doctrine himself,[4] Theodosius established a single Christian doctrine (specified as that professed by Pope Damasus I of Rome and Pope Peter II of Alexandria) as the Empire's official religion.
Earlier in the 4th century, following the Diocletianic Persecution of 303–313 and the Donatist controversy that arose in consequence, Constantine had convened councils of Christian bishops to define the orthodoxy, or "correct teaching", of the Christian faith, expanding on earlier Christian councils. A series of ecumenical councils met during the 4th and 5th centuries, but Christianity continued to suffer rifts and schisms surrounding the issues of Arianism, Nestorianism, and Miaphysitism. In the 5th century the Western Empire decayed as a polity: invaders sacked Rome in 410 and in 455, and Odoacer, an Arian barbarian warlord, forced Romulus Augustus, the last nominal Western Emperor, to abdicate in 476. However, apart from the aforementioned schisms, the church as an institution persisted in communion, if not without tension, between the east and west. In the 6th century the Byzantine armies of the Eastern Roman Emperor Justinian I recovered Italy and other sections of the western Mediterranean shore. The Eastern Roman Empire soon lost most of these gains, but it held Rome, as part of the Exarchate of Ravenna, until 751, a period known in church history as the Byzantine Papacy. The Muslim conquests of the 7th century would begin a process of converting most of the then-Christian world in West Asia and North Africa to Islam, severely restricting the reach both of the Byzantine Empire and of its church. Missionary activity directed from Constantinople, the Byzantine capital, did not lead to a lasting expansion of the formal power of the Empire's state church, since areas outside the empire's political and military control set up their own distinct state churches, as in the case of Bulgaria in 919.
Justinian I, who became emperor in Constantinople in 527, established the bishops of Rome, Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem – referred to[by whom?] as the Pentarchy – as the leadership of the Imperial church and gave each bishop the title of "Patriarch".
Yes, I know the history. But that doesn't suggest that Theodosius (Eastern Emperor) founded a new Church. Quite the opposite. The Edict of Thessalonica , issued jointly with Gratian and Valentinian (in the West), makes it very clear that they are making the existing Christian Church the state religion.
It is our desire that all the various nations which are subject to our Clemency and Moderation, should continue to profess that religion which was delivered to the Romans by the divine Apostle Peter, as it has been preserved by faithful tradition, and which is now professed by the Pontiff Damasus and by Peter, Bishop of Alexandria, a man of apostolic holiness.
The Edict declares that the Church that already exists with Pope Damasus at its head is the one that goes back to the apostles.
It continues:
According to the apostolic teaching and the doctrine of the Gospel, let us believe in the one deity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, in equal majesty and in a holy Trinity. We authorize the followers of this law to assume the title of Catholic Christians
It re-affirms that true Christians , Catholic Christians, are those that affirm the teaching of the Council of Nicea regarding the Trinity, as handed down from the apostles and professed by Pope Damasus and Peter, the bishop of Alexandria..
How then can you claim that the Catholic Church was founded in 380 AD?

There is no documentation from that time, either explicit or implicit by historian or theologian that even hints that such an event transpired or was the intention of Constantine or the bishops of the Catholic Church to transpire.
This story, most famously told by Jehovah Witnesses and Fundamentalist Protestants, came out of their necessity to support their lie that there was an apostasy in the early Church. It is their way to explain how their reform and late arrival is justifiable. The myth is that because the Church of the Apostles fell in to apostasy, a remnant of the true and orthodox believers of Jesus remained hidden from and often persecuted by the Catholic Church until THEY brought the reform and true faith back. Prior the rise of Protestantism, no one ever dared to tell this lie. Only in the space of the unintelligent, uncurious, and hostile can such a myth and lie bear fruit.
Again, none of which can be proved or supported by the documented facts that the Churches we read about in the Bible started calling themselves Catholics by the early Second Century, and the unique teachings of that Church founded by the Apostles are only present in the Catholic Church today that is in union with See of Rome where the successor of Peter presides.

Yup - history is jam-packed with the sins of men - Catholic, Protestant, Lone Rangers, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, etc.
It's even filled with the sins of the folks over at YOUR cult aggressivechristianity.net. That is the folly of man.

I guess you have left "love" out of your list of things, seems tearing the guts out of people is what gets you off. So sad. But Jesus knew that would be from teh religious from teh very beginning. No man can do anything for you, and untill you are "willing" to hand yourself over to God, not even He can change you.
So know you can go to church, ask your "priest" to absolve you of all you sins, namely "killing Gods children", than you can do your 3 Hail marys, 2 out fathers, and 2 Glory Bees. and add to out Lords Good works, and than hopefully you might have a nice day. Because we will anyway, without your religion and lies.

This is a joke. You know exactly what I am saying. Did the Middles Eastern faith form a NEW Christianity? Did the Ethiopian or Greek? And you are under some wrong assumption, that I am ANTI- Catholic, I am ANTI-POPE Francis and and anti- a few other Popes too. And since they are NOT the founder of the faith, I can be. I said, Roman accepted Christianity as the state religion official in 380AD, not that Christianity was established then. And the Vatican II Council is my rejection....it's NEW MASS and the heretical garbage that has come out of it.

The "New Mass" is when the Church got rid of most of the Latin. That was in the late "60's. Are you old enough to remember it? It's the same Mass; the essence has not changed in 2000 years.
No one has claimed any pope to be founder of anything. You are grossly misinformed.

Read the Post suggested. Perhaps you can not read and comprehend at the same time. Christianity began with Mary's yes, and it became Rome's official state religion in 380AD. You have only shown you ignore historical facts. Christianity predates Romes acceptance of it. It did not begin when Rome decided to accept it. CHRISTMAS FOES ON THE RUN; PUSHBACK IS EVIDENT
There was a time when the Christmas haters were on the offensive, but now the pushback is in full gear. Our side is showing increasing resolve, and becoming more creative, even when we lose a legal battle.
The Catholic League threw down the gauntlet when Oregon’s Hillsboro School District censored Santa—not just Jesus—from any public display. Employees were told not to decorate their doors with religious figures or symbols, even going so far as to ban Santa.
The school district said it was responding to complaints made over the years by school employees saying that Christmas decorations made them feel “uncomfortable.” We decided it was time to make these school officials feel “uncomfortable.”
We bombarded the Portland media with a news release by Bill Donohue that told it like it is. “After telling employees to ‘refrain’ from using Santa to decorate their doors—in the name of being ‘respectful and sensitive to diverse perspectives and beliefs’—school officials then lied to the community, saying, ‘We
[are] NOT banning Santa.’ But that is exactly what they did.”
It didn’t take long before Donohue received an apology from the Hillsboro School District, saying it was all a misunderstanding. Santa was back, and “Christmas-related decorations” were allowed to be displayed.
Another victory was notched when a Texas judge overruled a school district that had banned a poster depicting a scene from “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” The Christmas haters said it had a Christian message, and had to be censored.
A Christmas hater in Knightstown, Indiana, filed a federal lawsuit to get town officials to remove a cross from atop their Christmas tree. The victory was marred when townspeople responded by putting crosses everywhere—they adorned businesses, yards, parks—places where crosses were never seen.
The most active Christmas haters this season were the ACLU, Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF), American Atheists, and the Satanic Temple. The ACLU filed suit over religious symbols on public property; FFRF erected anti-Christmas displays next to nativity scenes; American Atheists paid for billboards mocking Christmas; and the Satanists placed their symbols on public grounds.
“Trees of Diversity” were exhibited in parts of Utah, Marquette University would not allow a Christmas tree event—it held an “Igniting Hope” tree ceremony—and a “Winter Concert” in Mesa, Arizona censored the singing of “Silent Night.”
These examples show that the Christmas wars are far from over. But compared to where we were a decade ago, there are encouraging signs. The nation is increasingly fed up with political correctness, and that is a very good thing.
