With regards to the OP...I'm not Catholic, and I happily confess I'm not well read on any of these matters. But there does seem to be an up-take in news reports of the Pope encouraging inter-faith co-operation. Now...I'm fully aware that one can hardly trust the media these days, but it does occur to me that there could be some validity to the idea of some Protestant leaders meeting with the Pope.
Unlike some here, I don't hate the Catholic Church. I can't say I agree with all of it's theology or doctrines, but I don't think it's Satan's row boat here on Earth. I also think a certain amount of "inter-faith" cooperation can be good...to an extent. Catholics and Protestants both claim to follow and love Christ...if we can't gather in his name with some sort of civil fellowship, what does that say to the world at large?
The real "inter-faith" gatherings that trouble me, is the ones that include non-Christian faiths. When you start saying that our God is the same as the Muslims god, then we get into dangerous waters. I don't know if the Pope has made any claims to that effect...while he seems more liberal then his predecessors, I doubt it. Those on this forum who are Catholics could probably say....
