It’s the words of Jesus recorded in the Bible.
“You heard that it was said: ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you,”. (Matt 5:43-44)
You read what Paul said, yet still you justify your weapons. Jesus and his apostles surrendered to their enemies....they did not physically fight them. They had their defensive weapons from God, not offensive weapons from man.
Hunting is not war. It’s OK to hunt for food, but not OK to kill animals for sport, or to take human life out of hatred for a person of an enemy nation, who also serves man’s interests. Self defence is also OK as long as there is no intent to kill. As Jesus himself demonstrated, its better to leave the scene than to retaliate with violence. Under God’s law as well as man’s,
intent is the difference between murder and accidental manslaughter....yet both carried a penalty.
In the two world wars of last century, nations that professed to be “Christian” killed their own “brothers” of the opposing nation because man told them to. They whipped up patriotic fervour by means of propaganda, in order to justify the killing. Jesus never would have told them to be violent against other “Christians” or anyone else for that matter.
“If anyone says, “I love God,” and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar. For the one who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21 And we have this commandment from him, that whoever loves God must also love his brother.” (1 John 4:20-21)
There is no way to justify participating in carnal warfare.....a genuine Christian will not carry weapons or kill for man’s political agendas....nor to satisfy some notion that ‘kill or be killed’ is a “Christian” thing to do.
A gun designed to take human life should not be on a “Christian’s” shelf in the first place. Owning such a weapon and training to use it, shows intent. You show how deep the indoctrination goes by protesting so loudly.
Tell it to Jesus who will be the judge of all of us.
The Israelites had something we do not have.....a God-given land to defend from their enemies, and God’s sanction to protect it. Their wars were always defensive, never offensive. They didn’t go around conquering other people’s land and killing anyone who stood in their way.
By the time Jesus walked the earth, the Jews were spread out in the world, (the diaspora) whilst Gentile powers had taken over their land. The Israelites did not even have an army then. So even in Jesus’ day there was no war ever sanctioned by God.....only the spiritual kind, as Paul stated.
Your country and mine were stolen by force and with much bloodshed from their original inhabitants. Weapons were used to get rid of those who wanted to defend their own land.
We have nothing to be proud of in the actions of our forefathers of the British Empire. They not only stole land what was not theirs, but turned the indigenous people into second class citizens in their own country.
If you can defend that, then I fear for the condition of your heart.
Way more “Christian” than yourself apparently......Turn that critical eye on your own attitude as it is typical of those who want to defend and justify the indefensible attitude displayed by the masses of gun owners in the US....the silly emotional display appears to be all yours.
