Should the legal age to use guns be increased to 25?

Just read this yesterday, Biden's Department of Defense is actually trying to ban gun sales to anyone under 25:

Those supposed bans apply to soldiers on a base. It will fail because there is no Federal, under 25 constitutional ban on guns. The attempt here is address the number one problem on the bases ......suicide .

Really? Is it really such an issue with young soldiers these days?

Illinois State Supreme Court Declares 'Assault Weapons' Ban Constitutional | The Gateway Pundit | by Mike LaChance

Americans have been buying guns at a record pace for four straight years.

This is partially because of rising crime, but also because people are concerned about Democrats and gun control.

Americans are right about the Democrats. No matter how bad things get in the country, due mostly to their policies, they just won’t stop trying to enforce more control on law abiding people.

Look at what just happened in Illinois.

Do you think people 25 should be allowed to serve in the military, defending and dying for this country, our freedom, and way of life using GUNS that we provide them? Dumb, no-brainer question.

Military is age 18 mostly because of physical health. 25 is near the cuttoff point for military enrollment, which was 27 years of age.

My response was a rhetorical question, the point being there must be consistency irrespective of the age. If you're old enough to be provided and use a weapon by the government at whatever age is deemed appropriate by it, then that same age should be consistent outside of the government as well. No offense to the OP.

It's not the weapon, it's the person. People will kill people, its not the gun's. Outlaw cars? Outlaw knives? Outlaw baseball bats? You can think of all the ways, even if guns are gone, that individuals will invent to kill. Pipes, chair legs, wooden stakes, pencils, you name it. Oh, look in your tool box, yep, plenty of weapons everywhere.

LOL The cat is out of the bag. Not going to be able to control that. Until the progressive movement....turns the country communist....the dream of the democrats....gun control is not an option....more guns out there than people. Hopefully a civil war would occur before this country would turn communist.....

What we need is capital punishment for murder...electric chair.....electric chairs in the court rooms....you are guilty.....have a seat.

More support for the police....

I think the issue with gun violence does have a lot to do with severe mental illness and emotional turmoil. Perhaps it involves drug and alcohol abuse also, many young Americans do suffer from addiction problems. Many younger Americans today suffer very heavily from a lack of deeper meaning and higher purpose in their lives, enmeshing themselves in social media, popular entertainment and violent video games - they see themselves not as children of God meant to improve humanity, but almost as robots part of the herd or sophisticated animals randomly existing and evolving on this planet.

Still, it's very sad what is happening right now.

Gun control extremists have been lobbying for Biden to take substantive action ever since he took office. His administration, in fact, has bypassed Congress with rules and regulations that impose more and more restrictions on firearms and their owners.

Rules from the ATF over braces, zero-tolerance practices and creating a new definition for a “gun dealer” already have prompted lawsuits over the constitutional rights that are involved.

Some Democrats have been loudly calling for the legal age to be raised to 25, in order to help "prevent" future deaths.

You can't stop "crazy" with 145 more "gun laws".

See, gun laws (mainly) only block lawful responsible users.
The criminals still have plenty to sell the nut bars who are tired of killing cartoons on a screen with a mouse and a click, and want to go try it out on some 10 yr olds, they just locked in a classroom, before they opened fire.

What i can never understand or comprehend is the level of Insanity, that has to be in control of a SHOOTER< who is basically standing in the blood of Children, as they keep on pulling that Trigger, in these classrooms.

And there are other types as well, who just want to kill., as "Satan was a murderer from the Beginning" and he is their father and "his will be done"..

The most pathetic thing about these trigger pulling devils,, especially in the USA, is that the level of cowardice that is operating the SOUL of a person who takes the lives of school children..

In Israel.... = the Palestinians, (Arabs) are shown videos, ... "Here is how to stab an old woman Jew in the neck from behind"..."cutting her Carotid artery". Their current President created one of these Videos.
That's not a myth.

"From BEHIND".......see that? That is why Israel has a lot of soldiers on the Streets near Jerusalem., as that is what it takes to try to stop that kind of deranged "Quran" CRAZY.

I wonder how many people under the age of 25 who own a gun that was purchased legally have gone on to shoot other people?

The bad guys simply do not get them legally, for the most part. Yes there are exceptions, but in those cases, 25 would not be old enough in my opinion.

I hear this often…..’it’s not the guns, its the people who own them’…..but it’s “people with guns” who kill more people deliberately than anyone….even if it is by suicide, often they will take others with them.

It’s true, but the stats indicate that as a civilized nation, the USA has more gun deaths than any other nation that can claim democratic world supremacy. To suggest that a failed nation like Brazil has more gun crime than the US, is a bit of a joke.

Australia has strict gun laws and even with gang violence, and illegal weapons, our death rate per capital is nothing close to what the US has to endure. How can you send your children to school and not be worried that some bullied child will not snap and take their parent’s weapon to school to take revenge on the ones who tormented them?

It seems as if Americans have more to fear from their own citizens than they do from any outside threat….:ummm:

Jealous and hatred and envy are a triple threat for destruction.

Along with some beers and drugs.

Use per capita instead of trying to shoehorn a country the size of one our states into your fear of something you never owned or used.

Now use the percentage of guns never used to commit a crime versus the crime committed with a gun. Now let's have a conversation about your fear of something you likely will never encounter.

Coming from a Christian perspective, no genuine Christian should ever feel justified in carrying a weapon, especially one that is specifically designed to take human life. We have no sanction from God to do that.

When Jesus was threatened with violence he did not call down an army of angels to kill his abusers….he simply left the scene. Remember the words of the apostle Paul….

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage warfare according to what we are in the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but powerful by God for overturning strongly entrenched things. 5 For we are overturning reasonings and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are bringing every thought into captivity to make it obedient to the Christ”. (2 Cor 10:3-5)

The only weapons we are to use are spiritual….and as Paul also said…we have defensive weapons to use, but not offensive ones….

“Put on the complete suit of armor from God so that you may be able to stand firm against the crafty acts of the Devil; 12 because we have a struggle, not against blood and flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places. 13 For this reason take up the complete suit of armor from God, so that you may be able to resist in the wicked day and, after you have accomplished everything, to stand firm.”
So what are these defensive weapons?…..

14 Stand firm, therefore, with the belt of truth fastened around your waist, wearing the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having your feet shod in readiness to declare the good news of peace. 16 Besides all of this, take up the large shield of faith, with which you will be able to extinguish all the wicked one’s burning arrows. 17 Also, accept the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, that is, God’s word”. (Eph 6:11-17)

Do you see any justification for ever using carnal weapons in those words, when Jesus told us to “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you”…..(Matt 5:43-44)

How obedient must we be in order to prove that we are Christ’s disciples?
