We cannot reconcile ourselves to God by works, laws or religion. The Catholic church cannot reconcile anyone to God. If you believe that it can, you have been deceived. Many believe that they can reconcile themselves to God by keeping the commandments. Others believe that they can reconcile themselves to God by living holy lives. If you believe that you can do something or become something that will reconcile you into God, you have been deceived.

Why is this so? It is so, because we have ALREADY been reconciled unto God by Jesus Christ. Multitudes are trying to do in their flesh through works, laws and religion what God has ALREADY done in Jesus Christ.

"God was in Christ reconciling us and the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation" 2 Corinthians 5:19.

Before we were ever born Jesus had ALREADY reconciled us and the world unto God. This is the good news of the Gospel. God now stands before us with open arms saying... "Though your sins be as scarlet, they can be as white as snow" Isaiah 1:18. God offers reconciliation to everyone that wants it. If you don't want to be reconciled unto God, you don't have to. God is not going to threaten you. It's your choice.

Those that have rejected God's offer of reconciliation through Jesus Christ and are trying to reconcile themselves to God through works, laws and religion are still enemies with God. When they die in their sins, they will go into the judgment and be judged and condemned. God has done all that he can do to save us and reconcile us to himself through Jesus Christ. All that we have to do to be saved is to accept our reconciler, who is Jesus Christ and God's offer to be reconciled.

The word "Reconciliation" indicates that we were at one time enemies with God. But when we heard and believed the Gospel all of that changed. To be reconciled to God means that all of our sins and mistakes have been forgiven and we are now friends with God. Trying to be reconciled unto God by laws, works and religion means that we have rejected God's offer of reconciliation and are trying to reconcile ourselves to God by what we are or by what we have become. God does not accept the works or the obedience of sinners for reconciliation. God only accepts the works and the obedience of Jesus Christ. We are accepted only in him and because of him.

I've never so much as heard or read that to be saved, we have to accept our reconciler or God's offer to be reconciled. These are alien to the Bible. Can you elaborate?

Romans 5:9-11 LITV
9) Much more then, being justified now by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath through Him.
10) For if while being enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life;
11) and not only so, but also glorying in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we now received the reconciliation.

The King James translates this as, "we now received the atonement", but the word that appears there is reconciliation.

We were enemies of God and He reconciled us to Himself, and now we are to receive the reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:17-20 KJV
17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18) And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20) Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

God again has reconciled us to Himself, and we are urge that we be reconciled to God.

Reconciliation to God is a done deal on His part, what remains is that we receive it.

Much love!

If reconciliation is a done deal why do we need to receive it? This sounds like the old argument of a two party check. If one party does not sign then the check is worthless.

The ministry of reconciliation is given to us and that's the reason it is a done deal, and not as the OP stipulated.

God is not taking anyone to heaven that does not want to be there with him. This is why you will have to receive the reconciliation by your own free will. God does not impose anything on anyone, everything must be received by faith.

I can only speculate on why God does what He does, however, I've gotten the idea that He is gathering together a family who want's to be His family.

You and I may get into a dispute, and break off all connection. And one day, you decide enough is enough, and to forget all that stuff, and be reconciled. You've put the past away, and are ready to move forward in fellowship. But I'm not. So even though you've returned to friendship with me, I've not returned to friendship with you. And until I return to friendship with you, our fellowship is NOT restored.

One of us has reconciled, but the other won't.

And that's why.

2 Corinthians 5:19-20 KJV
19) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

God reconciled us to Him.

20) Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Now we must be reconciled to Him.

Much love!

If God wants to save you, He will!! And who does not want to be saved?

I disagree. Man in his own volition does not have free will, spiritually that is.
He is dead and a corps can't do anything.

About 80% of the population do not want to be saved. They want nothing to do with God or his Son Jesus Christ. How come your Calvinist didn't save everyone?

All through the Old Testament and into the New Testament people are using their free will, See Hebrews the 11th Chapter.

There is no glory for your Calvinist God that predestinates people to hell before they are born. What kind of a sick God is that?

If people have faith why do they need to exercise it?

You will not find words that explicitly say, "God predestines people to hell."
People go to hell BECAUSE they are sinners

Salvation is and always will be by faith through grace apart from the works of the law, Ephesians 2:8.

People do not go to hell because they are sinners. People will go to hell because like you they reject Jesus Christ as their savior. You need to call on Christ to save you, "Whosoever that shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved" Romans 10:13.

The wages of sin is death.
The soul that sinneth it shall die.

Where did I say that I have rejected Jesus as my savior? Prove it!! You're putting words in my mouth.

You need to call on Christ to save you, "Whosoever that shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved" Romans 10:13.
The only ones that will call upon the name of the Lord are they whose sins Jesus has redeemed. Matthew 1:21.

I don't need to call on Jesus to save me. He already told me that I have not chosen Him but that He has chosen me. John 15:16

You must have graduated from the college of heresies" "God so loved the WORLD that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" John 3:16. Jesus refutes you.

Sinners Christ died for are reconciled to God by His Death, so they are saved frpm their sins Rom 5:10

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

So if a person dies in their sins Christ didnt die for that person.

If a person dies in their sins it is because they rejected God's great free gift of salvation that has been provided by Jesus Christ, Ephesians 2:8.

That is not what the Bible says. The scripture says that Jesus died for the sins of the whole world, 1 John 2:2.

Because of what you believe about God and his Son Jesus Christ, you will never see heaven.

You are going against the scriptures because the Bible says that Jesus atoned for the sins of the whole world, 1 John 2:2. Instead of allowing the Bible to dictate what you believe you would rather believe your Calvinist God.
