A physical mark would violate the promise of salvation in the scriptures to all who call on the name of the Lord like John 3:16

The expression 'a marked man' does not necessarily mean a physical mark just as 'born again' does not mean going back into your mothers womb to come out a second time.

We are called to understand, not to run off with foolish imaginings.

The issue is our faith in Jesus. Many give lip service to this and that most convincingly yet ultimately reveal their truth by their behaviour. Having the mark of the beast is just that....the behaviour of a beast....and what is that? Did Jesus behave as a beast? The images of Daniel 7 of Nations to arise are represented as beasts. The image of a whore richly clad in Revelation 18 give us screaming clues as to how to interpret.

Speaking of Daniel...he did not write about two evil people that rule the world. He only wrote of one guy in fact no biblical writer ever said the AC had a second in command that exercised all the power and worked miracles. Those things were exclusive to the AC himself.

It's a physical mark because other humans will be able to tell if you have the mark and will allow or deny buying or selling. I don't believe satan can make a mark like God does his his mark is cruder, physical in nature than God's mark (or seal) is.

Well, since Revelation isn't absolutely specific that's why people have surmised the meanings behind the prophecies. And for generations.

It's also what leads some to think much of what is prophesied has already come to pass.

If we take the Bible literally in its entirety we've missed the point.
