Add it to the list of things Christians just pray about, but do nothing of substance.

"God is in charge," they say. What they really mean is that it's His affair to straighten things out. Theirs is but to sit by the sidelines, listen to a sermon about the cotton candy gospel and attend a theologically thin Bible study (if that book is the attention of study at all.....and usually it isn't).

Saints forbid that any of us should get our hands dirty.

Are we proud to be American (or whatever we are)? Or do we consider ourselves foreigners and pilgrims?

We are not to be of this world. And our battle is not with flesh and blood! We just seem to think somehow there is such a thing as 'good' politics, and a 'christian nation'. Both those things do not exist under the reign of the enemy.

Well hear is Australia we can supposedly afford to look after our own criminals like royalty and we also roll out the red carpet for people who hate us that 95% of them will never work hear at all or support our nation at all.
But our gov will run and hide when it comes to supporting our veterans.

The answer to every political question is a spiritual one.

Could you explain what you mean, brother? :)

I'm trying to understand how a spiritual answer does anything in politics. Wouldn't men just not understand it? Isn't just that we don't work through the government? I suspect I'm not quite getting where you're going with this, or the meaning of the sentence... ;)

The Lord bless you, brother

Sounds more like 'hecklers' placed among the crowd yelling out, "Crucify Him!" more than actual Teaparty folks.

Satan's servants are not above carrying in busloads of hecklers to political functions he wants to destroy.

Don't forget that optional cause, for none of those speaking at that event suggested any such thing as letting the uninsured die.

-- That was my first impression, too.

Like when Tea Partiers found people in thier ranks with racist signs and tshirts, say that isn't what they believe and ask them what they are doing there.

Repeatedly the person ended up leaving after it seemed like they were planted there or intentionally went there to act like and discredit the Tea Party members.

You find more racism, calls for violence, and vile signs, tshirts and statements about the opposition at a union rally or gathering.

No matter who they are...they are really mentally challenged if they think we should let people die because of having no insurance or money....Mercy, I hope they receive all the blessing of God and see the Truth before it is too late for them

We are not to be of this world. And our battle is not with flesh and blood! We just seem to think somehow there is such a thing as 'good' politics, and a 'christian nation'. Both those things do not exist under the reign of the enemy.

I've heard this excuse many times before and it is nothing more than self-justified laziness. Even a foreigner is required to obey the laws of the land in which he or she visits. Even a foreigner is expected to observe the customs and traditions of the land.

What is meant by this "we are foreigners" quote? Do you suppose that because we have been born again as Christians that we are now exempt from the laws, duties, traditions and customs of the land?
We are not.

Do you suppose that because we are Christians we are somehow sealed unto inactivity, irresponsibility and a complete lack of participation in history?
We are not.

Do you suppose that because we are Christians we are now allowed by the Almighty (who is STILL WORKING by the way) to sit calmly and idly by with hands folded waiting to be raptured out of our current mess?
We are not.

If the Master is still working, why are we doing NOTHING?
We are expected to participate in the world, tend His garden, AND BE OUR BROTHERS KEEPER. Is the church doing these things?
We are not.

We are not of this world? The next one may be our destiny, but for now we are very much a part of this world, this history and this nation.
Christ has come to bring His Kingdom to the world and we are appointed ambassadors, workers, yes and even soldiers in His service.
But we are not.

Google Laodicean Church and tell me if the quality of that church, or the lack of it, sounds familiar? Is that something God is pleased with?
HE IS NOT.

If you want to argue the point that Christians should not participate in the American political process (and thus yield to Satan's hoard in the land), then you ought to at least use an original premise and supporting statements.
Really.

We are not of this world? The last time I looked every one of us has to work, eat, sleep and take a trip to the w/c everyday. Next time you're sitting in there take some time and contemplate your worldliness. Then try to convince yourself that you are not in at least some form a part of it. Oh, and try not to forget your paperwork. No job is finished until the paperwork is done.

A bit of a poor joke at that, but a reminder that we really and truly are part of this world at least for now. If we don't act to clean up the mess - ours as well as theirs - things will get real dirty and real stinky REAL FAST.

It's time to act, brothers and sisters.

We are not exempt of the law, no, and we do live in this world.

But we do not battle in the flesh. I know it is an easy excuse to do nothing, but that is not the way I mean it. We are to wage war, but for the Christian, that's definitely not done by changing a law.

I disagree Prentis...we have to speak up and out to bring the Kingdom of God to earth as His Word says...on earth as in heaven...I am sure there is no abortion in heaven...I am sure heaven is not going to allow Sharia Law to judge us...I am sure that heaven does not allow porn to be watched...pretty sure also that God is not allowing Allah to hold court....I am sure that God is not letting children being sold into the sex trade...He wants heaven on earth...not smut or injustice in heaven..He did not say in heaven as on earth...he is a true judge, he does not lie to his people, He does not steal from His people...I am sure He has not taken God out of Heaven, like the government has taken God out of schools, out of court rooms, out of the pledge of allegiance...out of the White House as our government has do so...think about it...praying for our government is good and pressing in for a change of heart in the government is great, but I will say the Muslims, the thieves, the liars are in the schools, the White House, the Senate, the court rooms...in Congress, in the House... they are allowing murder of babies...read up on partial birth abortions..and then sleep tonight knowing that as long as the Christians of any nation fail to shout out for the murder of babies that we should be trying to protect...that Christians have a responsibility to God to bring the light of the Kingdom to a Godless world....sleep knowing that children are being raped and shown over the internet, because we sat in our chairs and did nothing to change the world from a condemned government that has sold your rights away and those children's lives away, for failing the people they are to protect with tougher laws, protect our children from ungodly cults, for removing the Maker of Heaven and earth from the schools because it might offend someone..instead of having justice for the people and Godly leadership...oh well this is my soapbox....if we vote for the Godly people and stop sticking our heads in the sand...the Kingdom of Heaven will invade the earth...When the USA took God away...they went down the tube..think about it and reflect on when the USA was sold out....

I agree.

But we fool ourselves if we think we can use the tool of the enemy, politics, to bring in the life of God. Our weapons are mighty and spiritual, not carnal. Voting, speeches, rallys, all those things are carnal.

We fight in the spirit, by prayer, by seeking. The way to save the world is actually by doing to it and for it. That requires that we come together and embody Christ, so that the world would see him. HE saves the world, HE is the light of the world, through us.

Not through our votes!

Banning abortion doesn't make those who want to abort any less corrupt, and making 'christian' laws does not make people under it godly.

Persecution surprises us? We want to eliminate it and make peace with the world?

Then we must have forgotten those who went before us!

Persecution is simply a chance to shine the light bright! We are to embrace our death (not only literal) that we might embrace his life.

If we fear persecution, if we fear the world, or somehow think we can be friends with it, I fear we will not be counted worthy of him.
