Luke chapter 16. Jesus gives a analogy of Richman and Lazarus. The Richman went to hell, called sheol. Lazarus went to paradise. Galatians chapter 5 tells us a distinction between the flesh and the spirit. What hindered the rich man from entering paradise. Was it pride? Or I'll gotten gains? Jesus teaches us the answer in Matthew chapter 18. Why do so many people miss the mark??.

34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.

Luke 16:26 . . Between us and you a great chasm has been fixed

Luke portrays only a small portion of the geography where Abraham and the
rich man conversed; suggesting that the two locations of the chasm where
the men stood are peninsulas or narrow cornices.

But I rather suspect that the rims of the chasm are straight and parallel like
the banks of a canal; plus extending sufficient distance in either direction to
accommodate hundreds, maybe even thousands, of friends and relatives
seeking to connect with their loved ones and BFF over on the other side.

Most, if not all, miss the mark because of pride. Pride is one of the seven deadliest sins. Those that cannot submit to authority means they are full of pride. As Jesus said in Matthew 19:24 - it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

Yes, definitely pride.

1 Peter 5:5 KJV
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Job 35:12 KJV
There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

In the story told at Luke 16-19-31, the beggar Lazarus died and was carried
by angels to the afterlife. Curiously, the rich man's transportation isn't
specified.

One of the most disturbing scenes I've yet to observe in a Hollywood movie
occurs in "GHOST" starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. When someone
marked for the wrong side of the afterlife passes away, these eerie
phantoms emerge, having the appearance of black oily smoke, uttering
awful moans, and drag their panic-stricken captives down into the ground.

I don't know if that's how the rich man in Luke's story was transported, but
if so; I can well imagine just how shocking and horrifying it must've been for
him at death to suddenly be able to see menacing spirit creatures
surrounding him with looks on their faces that could only convey but one
unmistakable intent; and I suspect those sinister beings had been hovering
around that poor man and stalking him every day and night of his entire life
without him knowing it and patiently waiting for the green light to take him
down.

Today hell is done and over with, according to revelation 20.

There are two places in the heavenly realm a person can reside in, according to revelation 21-22; that is outside the gates of the heavenly Jerusalem whom desires nothing to do with God, and those whom are going within whom desired to have faith and God in their life.

Disagree.
Revelations is a Revealing of Knowledge of what IS to come to pass.

Hell remains to this Day.
Paradise has been removed from Hell.

What establishes WHAT and WHERE and PURPOSE of Paradise?

Paradise IS “wherever” the “TREE OF LIFE IS”.
The “TREE of LIFE” IS: the Word of God.
Jesus’Title IS; the Word of God.
The Word of God IS: Gods TRUTH.
Jesus’ Offered His BODY for men to EAT...His Flesh? No His Word of Truth.

The “TREE of LIFE”....was IN the Garden of Eden.
The “TREE of LIFE”....was IN Hell, on ONE side of a great Gulf
The “TREE of LIFE”....IS IN (mid) Heaven In departed saved souls.
The “TREE of LIFE”....IS IN (soul saved men, IN Christ) ON Earth.
The “TREE OF LIFE”..SHALL be on the Whole of Earth

Paradise IS the PLACE, where SOULS of men WITH Gods WORD IN THAT soul, are exclusively gathered together, WITH the Lord God.
