You’re deceived.

Hebrews 12
5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Are you suggesting that a person can refuse sanctification and still inherit eternal life?

No actually. Sanctification cannot merit salvation; however, it is a mandated next step after salvation. Someone who refuses will live a literal hell on earth in the inner person because they are not living the way God created them to be.

No one who refuses chastisement will inherit eternal life, no matter how much they profess Jesus as Savior.

Are you suggesting that a bastard can inherit eternal life?

YES! Bastards are just the type of person Jesus is seeking.

But I guess what you meant to ask was - is someone who is actively living in sin someone who can inherit eternal life (cuz if you think about it, we're all bastards before salvation, born of sin).

To that I would say - if the New Man does not manifest itself, it may be a cause to question:

A) Did I disciple that believer correctly?
B) Do they actually understand the gospel?
C) Is there something going on in their inner person that is akin to a living hell that is basically God's spirit being grieved that He is not operating in Kingdom principles.

We are too quick to call someone UNSAVED ... but I would not go so far as to say that a person's life is not CHANGED by grace. Just because the alleged rapper was constantly taking drugs or a man is constantly looking at porn does not mean they are not grieved; I know some who cry themselves to sleep at night because their walk is not matching their actions.

You don't know that for sure; all we do know is that God chastises those He loves and ... in some cases ... that means He will take them home early.

But on the fact that God chastises all those He loves, we agree at least.

Hebrews 12:8 says we are bastards as being WITHOUT chastisement.

There are tons of Christians living hell on earth because the Father has been chastising them for a long time. Thankfully, He is relentless.

Your loaded question implies a change of fatherhood....a disobedient son, is still His son. There are two prodigal sons in the parable of the prodigal son. The first son who rebelled against his father and wasted his inheritance never lost his sonship. The second prodigal remained with his father, but assumed the Father's love for him was about WORKS. You are on track for being judged as equal to the second prodigal son, resentful and angry over the grace of the Father shown to his wayward son.

You’re deceived. Bastards will not inherit eternal life. Jesus said:

Matthew 5:29
English Standard Version

29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.

Wow. No, you're the one deceived ... because you don't believe bastards can be saved. Sad; do you often skip over bastards when you witness to them? Do you witness to them? What do you say: "Believe on Jesus ... and make sure you live a good life ... and you're in?"

Unless you forsake ALL of your sins, you will not inherit eternal life. You can get into Heaven with missing body parts, but you won’t get in with your sins, per Jesus of Nazareth.

Again. I would encourage you to do the homework Paul outlined for us in zhebrews 6:1-3. I could expand on that, but it probably wouldn't change your mind. Paul warned the Hebrew believers (and us) that maturity in Him is not even possible without MASTERJNG those six fundamental, foundational "doctrines of Christ". Its homework many have failed to take seriously and get done. One of the huge reasons why the western church is so immature. And powerless.

Scenario: A woman is witnessed to and she gets saved, asking Jesus to be her Savior. She had lived the life of a drunk. Now, she is happy - but before the people who witnessed to her leaves, she says, "This is SO wonderful! I want to celebrate. Here ..." And she picks up a glass of alcohol and gives a toast.

From appearances - she did not *repent* of her drunken lifestyle. Are you suggesting she wasn't saved when she professed that she was? Which is fine if you say no - it'll just be something to add to my Pastor's retelling the story - I'll tell him, according to SOME - she ain't saved.

How can you refuse chastisement? Is it a choice?

Notice the word “if”.

Hebrews 12
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

1 Corinthians 6
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Ahh I see. That gives me some comfort because let me know my issues are chastisement. I guess he wouldn’t chastise me if I wasn’t his.

Okay, so you are the one who likes to avoid direct questions. Instead of maybe saying "that woman just needs a little bit of encouragement not to drink by reading God's word, etc." - you consign her to hell right after her profession, thinking it must be still born or not at all.

I think you'd make a great Pharisee.
