The fight for the future began a long, long time ago; about 6000 years to be exact (roughly). It all started when God created the world and placed a man and a woman in a beautiful garden to tend it and to live by His Commands and honor and Worship Him.
Unfortunately, God's enemy, the serpent, had other plans. He didn't agree with God's Ways and hated God's creation almost as much as he hated mankind. So the snake decided to turn man and everything in the world to his own ways and to destroy and reverse all of the good that God had done.
And that's how the fight for the future all began.
You can start with the first few chapters of Genesis for more detail of these events.
