Romans 10:8-10
The Good News is near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart.” This Good News tells about putting your trust in Christ. This is what we preach to you. 9 If you say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved from the punishment of sin. 10 When we believe in our hearts, we are made right with God. We tell with our mouth how we were saved from the punishment of sin.

Yeah, this is why I don't like it when believers decry the sinners prayer. I know the sinners prayer isn't just getting someone to repeat a line after you and then they are saved, but it is.. believing Jesus is God, lived a sinless life, that He died and rose again, and that by believing in Him, you have eternal life.

God convicts a sinner of their need for Him, for deliverance. Then the person responds by either rejecting God or entrusting their salvation with Him, through this belief.
