They were born again when God accepted their Faith, washed them in the blood of Jesus, and gave them the new birth.
Same as everyone who is saved.

Water does not have any part in Salvation.
So you are saved without repenting too?

Amazing.

Who invented that idea?

John preached "repent", but its Old Testament context. = Repent of sin.

After Jesus was resurrected, the NEW TESTAMENT replaced the OLD.

So, when Peter preached "Repent", its now defined by the New Covenant, = Repent of UNBELIEF.

To repent of unbelief is to have FAITH in Christ.
God accepts FAITH to Justify you.

"faith is accepted as righteousness". "Grace through faith".

No water required.
I see now.

You think the church started with John in the wilderness, not at Pentecost.

This way, you can skip saying "be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins".

Very cunning.

It was revealed to the apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit.

For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.

Romans 5:1 ESV
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 4:5 ESV
And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,

But Jesus said it earlier, also:
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

You can't pick the scripture that supports your belief, you have to take all that Christ said and put it together to see what He meant.

Here we plainly see that Christ demands repentance for salvation!

Except I'm not a Catholic.

The reality is that I have leanings towards Oneness Pentecostalism.

The blood is in the water (1 John 5:8).
Good, and I will let you believe that you don't need to be baptized in water (even though it could be to your eternal destruction).

So, I take it this conversation is finished?

I will say this: that a careful comparison between Acts of the Apostles 2:38-39 and Romans 8:30, with a view to the application of the word "called" ought to bring you to a specific point of view.

There are some things in this post and others you have posted that must be refuted in the name of Christ!

In 1 John 5:8, you are mistaken my friend! No hard feelings toward you, but this must be clarified.

In vs 7 John tells us there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, these three are one.

In vs 8 John tells us there three that bear record in EARTH, the Spirit, the water, and the blood, these AGREE in one.

What are they agreeing on? vs 9, "for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son."

They are witnessing here on earth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Saviour of the world! How do they do this?

They do it by the Holy Spirit, by the water, and by the blood! What does this mean?

Jesus laid aside His power as God and was lead totally by the Holy Spirit, all the miracles performed by Christ were done by the Holy Spirit witnessing that Jesus is the Son of God, the Saviour of the world, and He did it with great power as a witness on this EARTH.

The water is the witness that Jesus is the Christ! The water symbolizes His incarnation, being born a man just a we are. The prophets declared He would come as a man to save His people from their sins. The water, being born as a man is a witness on this EARTH, that He is the Christ.

The blood that He spilled at Calvary's Cross in a witness on this EARTH that He was the Christ. All the animal sacrifices of the Law of Moses pointed to the blood of Christ, as our Saviour.

I'll give you a clue. From the same chapter:

22 Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem. 23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?”

He said to them, 24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25 Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’

Who or what is the narrow door? What were they to repent of?

I don't play games with the Word of God! It's plain to see we must repent of our sins in order to be saved.

If you deny that, then that is on you, not me!

What does that mean? What is the sin you need to repent of? Unbelief. Repentance of every sin ever? That's impossible. I'm sure I could not remember every one, not even close. Now, yes, we are told to confess our sins. But over and over and over again, we are told that it is belief in Christ that produces salvation. That's not playing games, that's reading the Bible holistically.

It's not about remembering every sin, it's about the heart toward Christ!

In order to get saved you must realize you are a sinner, that's the purpose of hearing the Gospel, it shows you clearly who you are and what you are in need of. If that is not revealed to you when you hear it, it has had no effect on you!

Knowing who you are, a sinner in need of a Saviour, that will automatically keep you aware of sin, you will despise it.

You will know that is what nailed Christ to the Cross. When you realize that you have sinned, it will bring remorse.

If it doesn't, it's check-up time, something is wrong!

See, Paul says...>>"you are justified by faith".

THe water cult teaches, "you are justified by water".

Those who believe in water baptism believe that we are justified by "faith in the operation of God." (Colossians 2:12).

Thats Jehovah's Witness Theology that you are TEACHING.
Understand?
Pay attention, justbyfaith.

A broken clock can be right two times a day.

My doctrine does not originate from the Jehovah's Witnesses; it originates from the Bible and the Oneness Pentecostal faith.

Paul says...>"Jesus did not send me to water baptize".

God says, "believe on my Son, and i will give you the new birth".

The water cult then denies this, and tries to replace all that with Water., which is what you are doing, which is what the JW's Teach.

It is not the water that saves but the symbol that is represented by going under the water as an identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.

Such an identification is a confession of Jesus before men.

Read Matthew 10:32, Luke 8:12 and you tell me whether or not those verses teach that we are saved when we confess Jesus before men.

Water does not have any part in Salvation.

See above.

So, when Peter preached "Repent", its now defined by the New Covenant, = Repent of UNBELIEF.

To repent is to make a 180-degree turn away from sin, death, hell, and satan towards righteousness, life, heaven, and God.

So you are saved without repenting too?

Amazing.

Who invented that idea?

Could it be....satan?

It was revealed to the apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit.

For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.

Romans 5:1 ESV
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

But Jesus said it earlier, also:
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

You have taken these verses out of the context of the rest of the Bible.

What is the sin you need to repent of? Unbelief. Repentance of every sin ever? That's impossible.

1 John 3:9 might tell you otherwise.

.

What kind of deceived cultist.... "" believes in water""?

What unholy Christ or devil's Apostle, told you to "believe in water"?

Also, the operation of God, is to be "circumcised from the Flesh"..
That happens by the Holy Spirit, inside the person, and the city water supply can't reach your Spirit.

Col 2:12, Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

That "circumcision of Christ", "the circumcision which is made without hands", happens in us when we are buried with Christ in baptism, according to holy scripture.

There is a difference between "believing in water" and believing in water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth for the remission of sins as an identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection....which is a confession of Jesus before men and as the result He will also confess before the Father and before His angels, those who submit to the ordinance.

I will say again that there are no magical qualities in the water.

The only significance of the water is that it provides an accurate representation of what happens in baptism...that you have died, are being buried, and are also risen with Christ through faith in the operation of God.

Water has no power.
None.

WE are risen with Christ, through the FAITH, FAITH< FAITH< of the operation of God.

That faith, is the Justification that is the REASON for the "risen".

The literal operation of God, happens to a dead Spirit, and that can't be performed by water.

Being born again, is the operation of God, whereby God separates the born again Spirit from the carnal flesh, or "old man".

This happens, to the person, the instant they Give God Faith.
Water has no part to play in the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Ghost is absolutely promised to those who repent and are water baptized in Jesus' Name for the remission of sins (Acts of the Apostles 2:38-39).

You have to rightly divide that verse.
Ive done it today, about 10x already, for Breadoflfie.

Let me do it for you now..

Repent....................................and be baptized.

See that?

You repent..... and that is not ....of your sin.
That is, Acts 2:38, as an answer to the JEWS who were just told they killed their Messiah, and they said..>"what shall we DO"..

Peter says.....REPENT..
So, this Repent, means to repent of UNBELIEF, as that is what killed their Messiah....>UNBELIEVING JEWs..<

So, Peter says......and i'll paraphrase..
= Listen, you killed your Messiah, and now you see the SIGNS , you hear the TONGUES.... and know you are guilty..(Holy Spirit Conviction)....so, you have to repent of your unbelief and have FAITH in CHRIST...

And they did.
3000.
And God accepted their FAITH, and they were born again.

THEN, they were allowed to be Water Baptized.

This is the same as you find in Acts 8.
Phillip and the Eunuch.
Phillip says......."if you have believed with all your heart.. = repented from unbelief..........then you may be water baptized, as you are now born again.

See that BELIEVING?
That is repenting from Unbelief, which is to have FAITH in Christ, that God accepts to save you.
Then, you get in the water.

Of course, but we are talking here about what saves. The Holy spirit convicts, and we believe on Christ's atonement for salvation. That includes sorrow for sins. Simply being sorry but not accepting Christ doesn't save. What does? Belief in the resurrection. You know when I got saved, I was really expecting something dramatic to happen. I was trying to confess every sin, but what I really needed was to realize he'd already forgiven them when I accepted him. I struggled with the idea that I would sin and he'd abandon me. We should instead be confident that he won't leave or forsake us because we aren't perfect.

Water does not change because its in a baptism.
Its the same water that comes out of the garden hose, that is connected to the back of that church.
They may have used that hose to fill up that baptism.

Water does not change into a spiritual mechanism, simply because someone is dunking someone else and saying some words out of a bible.

What changes is the person's dead Spirit, when they were born again...before they were dunked.... because God's Holy Spirit changed them into a new creation.
Water had no part to play in this regeneration of a person's inner DEAD Spirit.

Water cults teach differently. Such as the Jehovah's Witness, who teach this..

""""'Baptism in water has several purposes. It is for the remission of sins, for membership in the Church, and for entrance into the kingdom of God"..

Does that sound familiar to you, justbyfaith?

How is that a denial of the fact that one receives the Holy Ghost as the result of being water baptized in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth for the remission of sins?

Because its a false teaching to teach that water baptism is causing this to happen.

A person receives the Spirit of God, when they are born again, by God., and not by water.

Peter said to REPENT............and that is, where the FAITH showed up, that God accepted on behalf of those 3000.

Water followed.
