Many Christians claim that since the word “Sabbath” isn't mentioned until Exodus 16, it didn't exist until Exodus 16. Therefore, it only pertains to Jews - nobody else.

But, what if the Sabbath could be shown to exist not only before Exodus 16, but all the way back in Eden - thousands of years before there were any Jews? That would be both a serious challenge to the popular idea that the Sabbath was made for J-E-W, and confirmation of what Jesus said: it was made for M-A-N.

The evidence points to the Sabbath day beginning all the way back in Eden.
How?
Because God's act of blessing the Sabbath day could only have taken place when He blessed the 7th day.
Why?
Because 1 Chronicles 17:27 KJV says when God blesses something, “it shall be blessed forever” - which means the blessing He bestowed on the 7th day was "one and done" and sufficient to last for eternity and absolutely in no need of any mountaintop booster shot.

The blessing of the 7th day is intrinsic to the blessing of the Sabbath day - they are one in the same blessing - and therefore, any reference to God's blessing of the Sabbath day can only be a reference to God's all sufficient Edenic blessing of the 7th day.

Which is why Isaiah says, "...from one Sabbath to another shall all flesh come to worship before Me" for all eternity. Shalom!
