4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
5 Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.
6 And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

Before the great and terrible day of the Lord, God will cause men to send evil from nation to nation that will look like pillars of fire and great whirlewinds that will have a hot blast with a shadow of a hot cloud which will burn men as lime and destroy the protective vail over every nation. This causes the sun to become black as sackcloth and the moon to look like blood. [/SIZE]

The longest duration for a total solar eclipse is 7.5 minutes. This coming darkness, I assume, will not be a total solar eclipse; it will be a statement by God Himself that He is grieved with a situation, & is soon to intervene. It is not the first time He has done so.

During the 6th seal judgment it will be a blood moon. That can happen in a lunar eclipse. In a solar eclipse you can't see the moon.

Do you always go looking for Scriptures that SOUND like they are talking about the same thing without investigating the passages? Do you always choose Scriptures that SEEM to be supporting your premise? That's backward, y'know. You should be letting the Scriptures speak to YOU, not you reading INTO the Scriptures what you want to find! Remember the difference between exegesis and eisegesis?

Not all of these passages are talking about the same event, even if they are in the same book! As a matter of fact, PARTICULARLY if they are in the same book but separated by several chapters!

So, one of the first questions we should ask is this: Does this seal really affect the WHOLE EARTH as the globe, or does it simply affect an area surrounding the viewer, Yochanan (John), the LAND? The Greek word "gee" (pronounced "gay") can mean both, and unless the context says "all the earth," it probably isn't. Even though it says such things as "the kings of the earth," that can mean "the kings of the LAND," talking about the local kings within the area about which Yochanan was talking. Even "every mountain and island" can be qualified to refer to "every mountain and island WITHIN a geographic area."

Obviously the actual stars, that are at least 4.33 light-years away and some much farther than that in the hundreds and thousands of light-years away and are often far bigger than our own sun Sol, can't be what Yochanan was saying fell to the earth. He was probably talking about "shooting stars" or "meteors." And, since they fell "unto," or more properly, "INTO the ground," he was talking about "meteorites." The moon, however, is NOT what eclipses the sun here! The word that was NOT EVEN TRANSLATED, holee, means "a FULL moon!" Solar eclipses involving the moon ALWAYS happen during the NEW MOON! That's a WHOLE HALF-MONTH AWAY!
