Lets look at this prophetic time period found in scripture which is the time, times and half a time mentioned in Daniel and Revelation:

Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Daniel 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

Revelation 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

If we look back to Daniel we see the word 'time' in this prophetic context refers to a period of a year. In the story of King Nebuchadnezzar, he went crazy for seven years which is given as "seven times" in the text, and humbled and ate grass as an ox as seen in Daniel 4:32:

Daniel 4:32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

So in prophetic reading we see the days equal years, so lets look how many days are in a time, times and half a time, it means time (or 1 year), times (or 2 years) and half a time (or 1/2 year) or a total of 3 1/2 years. Most people who look at it would stop at this point and accept the 3 1/2 years only at face value.

But these are prophetic years so each day is a year and 3 1/2 years would be 3 1/2 times a Jewish year of 360 days (360 x 3.5= 1260) so comes out to 1260 days, and a prophetic day equals a year so using the same methodology as is used for the 70 weeks of Daniel we calculate it to actually represent 1260 literal years. So, 'Time, Times and half a Time' in prophecy is really 1260 years. To confirm this formula we need only to look at the book of Revelation.

Revelation 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Here the woman represents the faithful church, who flees into the wilderness for 1260 days. Again using the day=year formula, this actually speaks of 1260 years that the church would be persecuted. Now look at verse 14:

Revelation 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Here the exact same time of persecution is referred to as 3 1/2 times, again meaning the same period of 1260 days/years as found in verse 6. In the book of Daniel, we saw this exact same period of persecution in church history:

Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

This verse in context is referring to a period of time that the little horn or Antichrist power will persecute the true believers or true church, again for 1260 years. The same is true for the time given "that it shall be for a time, times, and an half" for Daniel 12:7

So why is it not a year equal to 365 days as we hold today? Well in ancient times the year was held to be at 360 days. The fact that the prophets understood a year as 360 days is well attested, and can be seen in the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation as seen in the use of "time, times and half a time" (i.e. 1+2+0.5=3.5), "1,260 days" and "42 months". These references represent a period of 1260 years (based on the 360 day Jewish year multiplied by 3.5). Divide 1,260 days by 42 months and you will get a 30-day month, as 12 months of 30 days equals 360-days in a year

These time periods occur eight times in scripture:
Daniel 7:25, "time, times and a half".
Daniel 9:27, "half one set of seven".
Daniel 12:7, "time, times and a half".
Revelation 11:2, "42 months".
Revelation 11:3, "1260 days".
Revelation 12:6, "1260 days".
Revelation 12:14, "time, times and a half".
Revelation 13:5, "42 months".

We see how the 1260 day-for-year prophecy is found in Daniel 7, 9 and 12 and again in Revelation 11, 12 and again in Revelation 13. so many chapters in the Bible all pointing to that same 1260 year period which today we know as "the dark ages". If one looks history you quickly find that after abandonment of Rome by the Emperors, was the rise of Papal Rome with the Pope at its head, a powerful religious but apostate church as seen in the system of worship all the way from Babylon. The conversion of the empire to Christianity, and then its removal of the Empires seat from Rome, freed the papacy from temporal domination of the Empire and it grew into a persecuting antichrist power whose persecution of Gods people clearly went on during these 1260 years. These "1,260 days" spanned the Middle Ages and historicists throughout history have identified the "1,260 days" as being fulfilled by rise of the Papacy and its temporal power being taken, from 538 AD to 1798, or Napoleon's Roman Republic.

In Daniel 7 we also read of what would happen during this period, that it would 'wear out the saints of the most High'..

And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws (Daniel 7:25).

The Papacy has a long history of "wearing out" the saints of the Most High, and its most extrema persecution was during the Middle Ages of anyone daring to oppose the Church. This gives us a clear identification of who the entity is who "persecuted the saints". The beast of Revelation 13 is a religious-political entity that is used by Satan, to persecute God’s people. The dragon in Revelation 12 is Satan working through pagan and religious powers with his deceptions and lies. We see how the beast symbolizes basically Satan using the corrupted religious-political power to destroy Gods true people.

Most Bible scholars, including many Protestant Reformers, believe that this beast represents the Roman Catholic Church. The exact number of Christians murdered for their faith during the Middle Ages is unknown, but most historians agree that for over 1200 years the Roman Catholic Church persecuted and killed Christians who would not agree with their traditions and style of worship. William Tyndale in 1536 was charged with heresy and burnt alive. What was his sin? He translated the Bible into English. Like him, many others were tortured, imprisoned and killed or put to trial with the sentence already decided, or forced to recant under threat of death. The prophetic “time, times and half a time,” 42 months, and 1260 days are all the same time period written in different forms, of a literal 1260 years.

Roman Catholic Church supremacy started in 538 AD when emperor Justinian gave the pope the title Pontifex Maximus, the "Bridge builder between heaven and Earth", and established the papacy as the supreme Christian power. They killed and persecuted untold numbers during this time, and told kings, rulers, and people to follow what it said or they would be cut off with their power to excommunicated or worse. All this abruptly ended in 1798 when Napoleon’s army took Pope Pius VI captive and weeks later died. That is exactly 1260 years, just as prophecy laid out.

However, the prophecy says that the deadly wound will heal, and sure enough in 1929, Mussolini agreed to return the papal seat and power. Since then the Vatican became a political and religious power that still makes the world wonder after it, as we see today. But its 'deadly wound' allowed the nations and people to get out from its deadly power over their affairs, but the Bible says the beast will go till the end. So this AntiChrist entity will not cease, until it goes down into perdition.

Many today don't believe that the Roman Catholic church actually persecuted and killed other Christians during thid period and yet the record is clear it did.

We see it in the slaughter of the Albigensians which was really the first Roman Catholic crusade intended to slay other Christians. [K.Deschner, Opus Diaboli, Reinbek 1987, 29]The Albigensians...viewed themselves as good Christians, but would not accept Roman Catholic rule, and taxes, and dictates. Then on the command of pope Innocent III in 1209, Bezirs (today France) was destroyed, all the inhabitants were slaughtered. Victims including Catholics refusing to turn over their neighbours and friends were up to 70,000. [H.Wollschlger: Die bewaffneten Wallfahrten gen Jerusalem, Zrich 1973.179-181]

In Carcassonne 8/15/1209, thousands were slain and in subsequent 20 years of war until nearly all Cathars (probably half the population of the Languedoc, today southern France) were exterminated. After the war ended (1229) the Inquisition was founded 1232to search and destroy any who did not hold to the what the church dictated.

The Waldensians, and many others were exterminated, in the persecution of the Cathar of Southern Europe, northern Italy, it is estimated one million victims of the . [H.Wollschlger: Die bewaffneten Wallfahrten gen Jerusalem, Zrich 1973.183]

The Spanish Inquisition killed untold numbers and the Spanish Inquisitor Torquemada alone allegedly responsible for 10,220 burnings. Of course we cant leave out John Huss, a critic of papal infallibility and indulgences, who was burned at the stake in 1415.

In the 15th century we find the Church lauching a persecution against Hussites, with thousands slain. In 1538 pope Paul III declared a crusade against England who had left its domination and all English made as slaves of Church, but England being a island made that a bit difficult to implement. In the 1568, the Spanish Inquisition tribunal ordered extermination of 3 million rebels in (then Spanish) Netherlands and thousands were slain. In1572 In France about 20,000 Huguenots were killed on command of pope Pius V. Until 17th century 200,000 flee. [K.Deschner, Opus Diaboli, Reinbek 1987, 28-31]

In the Catholic 17th century 30 years' war against the Protestants, at least 40% of population decimated, mostly in Germany. [K.Deschner, Opus Diaboli, Reinbek 1987.31-32] And its recorded in the Catholics sack the city of Magdeburg/Germany, roughly 30,000Protestants were slain. "In a single church fifty women were found beheaded," reported poet Friedrich Schiller. [D.Stannard, American Holocaust, Oxford University Press 1992, 191. ]

Now this does not include the persecution and killing of the Jews which the church to say the least did not discourage and worse were instigated by its bishops or led by its priests. By the 4th and 5th centuries we see the beginning of this phase of the persecution as the Jewish synagogues were burned and many Jews slain. We find in the middle of the fourth century the first synagogue was destroyed on command of bishop Innocentius of Dertona in Northern Italy. The first synagogue known to have been burned down was near the river Euphrat, on command of the bishop of Kallinikon in the year 388. We find that as a result of the Council of Toledo 694, Jews were enslaved, their property confiscated, and their children forcibly baptized. The Bishop of Limoges (France) in 1010 had the cities' Jews, who would not convert to Christianity, expelled or killed. [K.Deschner, Abermals krhte der Hahn, Stuttgart 1962. 450-453]

When the Crusades began, thousands of Jews were slaughtered all through Europe as they marched to the Holy Land or just got together on their way there. History records the killing of the Jews at Worms, Mainz , Cologne, Neuss, Altenahr, Wevelinghoven, Xanten, Moers, Dortmund, Kerpen, Trier, Metz, Regensburg, Prag and others. [S.Eidelberg, The Jews and the Crusaders, Madison 1977.]

It continued in the Second Crusade in 1147. Several hundred Jews were slain in Ham, Sully, Carentan, and Rameru in France). [WW57] and it continued in the Third Crusade as English Jewish communities were attacked and sacked 1189/90. And in 1257-1267 the Jewish communities of London, Canterbury, Northampton, Lincoln, Cambridge, and others exterminated.

The killing of Jews with the churches knowledge if not outright approval continued through all Europe through the 13 century to what we see all the way to World War II by the Nazis. In Spain, Seville's the Jews were killed with the Archbishop Martinez leading. 4,000 were slain, 25,000 sold as slaves. Their identification was made easy by the brightly colored "badges of shame" that all jews above the age of ten had been forced to wear. [K.Deschner, Abermals krhte der Hahn, Stuttgart 1962. 454]

During these years of oppression in which the masses were kept in ignorance and the priest held sway over every aspect of life, here and there arose individuals willing to shine a light into the darkness. Christian author Dave Hunt tells us that because they rejected transubstantiation, "Christians were burned at the stake by Roman Catholics by the hundreds of thousands." Dave Hunt, A Cup of Trembling (Eugene, Oregon: Harvest House Publishers, 1995): 160. We find many instances in the historical record:

The Albigensian 'crusade' in southern France included Albigensian Christians and Catholics were slain. By the time the Roman Catholic armies finished their 'crusade,' almost the entire population of southern France (mostly Albigensian Christians) has been exterminated. During the six centuries of papal Inquisition that began in the 13th century, up to 50 million people were killed. Read what J. A. Wylie's The History of Protestantism has to say about the Crusades against the Abigenses

1540 -1570 Roman Catholic armies butcher at least 900,000 Waldensian Christians of all ages during this 30-year period.

1550 - 1560 Roman Catholic troops slaughter at least 250,000 Dutch Protestants via torture, hanging, and burning during this ten-year period.

1553 -1558 Roman Catholic Queen Mary I of England (aka 'bloody Mary') attempts to bring England back under the yoke of papal tyranny and during her reign, many good Christian men and woman are burned to death at the sake. Her victims include bishops, scholars, and other Protestant leaders.

1572 St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre. French Roman Catholic soldiers begin killing Protestants in Paris on the night of August 24, 1572. The soldiers kill at least 10,000 Protestants during the first three days. At least 8000 more Protestants are killed as the slaughter spreads to the countryside.

1641 -1649 Eight years of Jesuit-instigated Roman Catholic butchery of Irish Protestants claims the lives of at least 100,000 Protestants.

1685 French Roman Catholic soldiers slaughter approximately 500,000 French Protestant Huguenots on the orders of Roman Catholic King Louis 14 of France. it just goes on and on... The Dark side of Catholicism

Lets look into the Inquisition. While many people associate the Inquisition with Spain and Portugal, it was actually instituted by Pope Innocent III (1198-1216) in Rome. A later pope, Pope Gregory IX established the Inquisition, in 1233, to combat the heresy of the Abilgenses in France. By 1255, the Inquisition was in full gear throughout Central and Western Europe.

Those accused of heresy were sentenced at an auto de fe, Act of Faith. Clergyman would sit at the proceedings and would deliver the punishments. Those who reconciled with the church were still punished and many had their property confiscated, so the churchmen had great financial incentive to find more 'herectics'. Those who never confessed were burned at the stake without strangulation; those who did confess were strangled first. At first, the Inquisition dealt only with Christian heretics and did not interfere with the affairs of Jews. However, disputes about Maimonides books (which addressed the synthesis of Judaism and other cultures) provided a pretext for harassing Jews and, in 1242, the Inquisition condemned the Talmud and burned thousands of volumes. In 1288, the first mass burning of Jews on the stake took place in France.

In 1481 the Inquisition started in Spain and ultimately surpassed the medieval Inquisition, in both scope and intensity. Conversos (Jews who were forcibly converted and appeared to continued to observe the Sabbath) and New Christians were targeted because of their close relations to the Jewish community, many of whom were Jews in all but their name. "New Christians" is a term applied specifically to three groups of Jewish converts to Christianity and their descendants in the Iberian Peninsula. The first group converted in the wake of the massacres in Spain in 1391 and the proselytizing fervor of the subsequent decades. The second, also in Spain, were baptized following the decree of Ferdinand and Isabella in 1492 expelling all Jews who refused to accept Christianity. The third group, in Portugal, was converted by force and royal fiat in 1497. Like the word Conversos, but unlike Marranos, the term New Christian carried no intrinsic pejorative connotation, but with the increasing power of the Inquisition and the growth of the concept of "limpieza de sangre," cleansing the blood, the name signaled the disabilities inevitably heaped on those who bore it.

The New Christians who continued secretly to observe the precepts of Judaism as much as possible after their conversion were not regarded as voluntary apostates. The basis of this decision was the statement by Maimonides that although one should allow oneself to be put to death rather than abandon one's faith in times of persecution, "nevertheless, if he transgressed and did not choose the death of a martyr, even though he has annulled the positive precept of sanctifying the Name and transgressed the injunction not to desecrate the Name, since he transgressed under duress and could not escape, he is exempted from punishment." In accordance with this ruling, other rabbis ruled that those New Christians who remained in their countries because they were unable to escape and flee, if they conducted themselves in accordance with the precepts of Judaism, even if only privately, were full Jews.

Fear of Jewish influence led Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand to write a petition to the Pope asking permission to start an Inquisition in Spain. In 1483 Tomas de Torquemada became the inquisitor-general for most of Spain, he set tribunals in many cities. Also heading the Inquisition in Spain were two Dominican monks, Miguel de Morillo and Juan de San Martin.

First, they arrested Conversos and notable figures in Seville; in Seville more than 700 Conversos were burned at the stake and 5,000 repented. Tribunals were also opened in Aragon, Catalonia and Valencia. An Inquisition Tribunal was set up in Ciudad Real, where 100 Conversos were condemned, and it was moved to Toledo in 1485. Between 1486-1492, 25 auto de fes were held in Toledo, 467 people were burned at the stake and others were imprisoned. The Inquisition finally made its way to Barcelona, where it was resisted at first because of the important place of Spanish Conversos in the economy and society.

More than 13,000 Conversos were put on trial during the first 12 years of the Spanish Inquisition. Hoping to eliminate ties between the Jewish community and Conversos, the Jews of Spain were expelled in 1492..

The next phase of the Inquisition began in Portugal in 1536: King Manuel I had initially asked Pope Leo X to begin an inquisition in 1515, but only after Leo's death in 1521 did Pope Paul III agree to Manuel's request. Thousands of Jews came to Portugal after the 1492 expulsion. A Spanish style Inquisition was constituted and tribunals were set up in Lisbon and other cities. Among the Jews who died at the hands of the Inquisition were well-known figures of the period such as Isaac de Castro Tartas, Antonio Serrao de Castro and Antonio Jose da Silva. The Inquisition never stopped in Spain and continued until the late 18th century.

By the second half of the 18th century, the Inquisition abated, due to the spread of enlightened ideas and lack of resources. The last auto de fe in Portugal took place on October 27, 1765. Not until 1808, during the brief reign of Joseph Bonaparte, was the Inquisition abolished in Spain. An estimated 31,912 heretics were burned at the stake, 17,659 were burned in effigy and 291,450 made reconciliations in the Spanish Inquisition. In Portugal, about 40,000 cases were tried, although only 1,800 were burned, the rest made penance.

The Inquisition was not limited to Europe; it also spread to Spanish and Portugese colonies in the New World and Asia. Many Jews and Conversos fled from Portugal and Spain to the New World seeking greater security and economic opportunities. Branches of the Portugese Inquisition were set up in Goa and Brazil. Spanish tribunals and auto de fes were set up in Mexico, the Philippine Islands, Guatemala, Peru, New Granada and the Canary Islands. By the late 18th century, most of these were dissolved.

This one is much more comprehensive on the Inquisition...

“Anyone who attempts to construe a personal view of God which conflicts with Church dogma must be burned without pity.”
– Pope Innocent III

The Inquisition was an ecclesiastical court and process of the Roman Catholic Church setup for the purpose towards the discovery and punishment of heresy which wielded immense power and brutality in medieval and early modern times. The Inquisitions function was principally assembled to repress all heretics of rights, depriving them of their estate and assets which became subject to the ownership of the Catholic treasury, with each relentlessly sought to destroy anyone who spoke, or even thought differently to the Catholic Church. This system for close to over six centuries became the legal framework throughout most of Europe that orchestrated one of the most confound religious orders in the course of mankind.

Inquisition Procedure

At root the word Inquisition signifies as little of evil as the primitive “inquire,” or the adjective inquisitive, but as words, like persons, lose their characters by bad associations, so “Inquisition” has become infamous and hideous as the name of an executive department of the Roman Catholic Church.

All crimes and all vices are contained in this one word Inquisition. Murder, robbery, arson, outrage, torture, treachery, deceit, hypocrisy, cupidity, holiness. No other word in all languages is so hateful as this one that owes its abhorrent preeminence to its association with the Roman Church.

In the Dark Side of Christian History, Helen Ellerbe describes how the same men who had been both prosecutor and judge decided upon the sentence of heresy. Once an Inquisitor arrived to a heresy-ridden district, a 40 day period of grace was usually allowed to all who wished to confess by recanting their faith.

After this period of grace had finished, the inhabitants were then summoned to appear before the Inquisitor. Citizens accused of heresy would be woken in the dead of night, ordered, if not gagged, and then escorted to the holy edifice, or Inquisition prison for closer examination.

In 1244, the Council of Harbonne ordered that in the sentencing of heretics, no husband should be spared because of his wife, nor wife because of her husband, and no parent spared from a helpless child. Once in custody victims waited before their judge anxiously, while he pondered through the document of their accusation. During the first examination, enough of their property was likewise confiscated to cover the expenses of the preliminary investigation.

The accused would then be implicated and asked incriminating and luring questions in a dexterous manner of trickery calculated to entangle most."...

History clearly lays out what this apostate church was doing during this time as it sought to "wear out the saints"..

⚫ "From the birth of Popery in 606 to the present time, it is estimated by careful and credible historians, that more than fifty millions of the human family, have been slaughtered for the crime of heresy by popish persecutors, an average of more than forty thousand religious murders for every year of the existence of popery." -- "History of Romanism," pp. 541, 542. New York: 1871.

⚫More then 300,000 suffered persecution in Spain alone, of whom 31,912 died in the flames. Millions more were slain for their faith throughout Europe.” Quoted from “The History of the Inquisition in Spain,” by Llorente, pp. 206-208. Printed in Bible Readings for the Home, (Washington: Review & Herald Pub. Assoc., 1942) p. 221.

⚫ "On August 24, 1527, Roman Catholics in France, by prearranged plan, under Jesuit influence, murdered 70,000 Protestants within the space of two months. The Pope rejoiced when he heard the news of the successful outcome."-Western Watchman, Nov.21, 1912 (Catholic)

⚫ "For teaching faith contrary to the teaching of the Church of Rome, history records the martyrdom of more than 100 million people." -Brief Bible Readings p. 16

⚫ "That the Church of Rome has shed more innocent blood than any other institution that has ever existed among mankind, will be questioned by no Protestant who has a competent knowledge of history . . . It is impossible to form a complete conception of the multitude of her victims, and it is quite certain that no powers of imagination can adequately realize their sufferings."--W. E. H. Lecky, History of the Rise and Influence of the Spirit of Rationalism in Europe, vol. 2, p. 32, 1910 edition. (An excellent though lengthy article describing in detail the right of the Roman Catholic Church to do this, will be found in The Catholic Encyclopedia, vol. 12, p. 266.)

G. Coulton, The Death-Penalty for Heresy, Medieval Studies, No. 18, 1924 edition, pp. 62 [The author was a well-known member of the French Academy and an enthusiastic champion of Catholicism].

⚫ "The church may by divine right confiscate the property of heretics, imprison their person, and condemn them to flames. In our age, the right to inflict the severest penalties, even death, belongs to the church. There is no graver offense than heresy, therefore it must be rooted out." - Public Eccliastical, Vol. 2, p.142.

⚫ "Experience teaches that there is no other remedy for the evil, but to put heretics (Protestants) to death; for the (Romish) church proceeded gradually and tried every remedy: at first she merely excommunicated them; afterwards she added a fine; then she banished them; and finally she was constrained to put them to death." -Cardinal Bellarmine famous champion of Romanism cited by Schumucker p. 76...

To confirm this formula we need only to look at the book of Revelation.
...

No, no... Hobie, there is NO Scripture in the Book of Daniel saying the "time, times, and an half" means to use 'a year for a day' idea.

The 'year for a day' idea ONLY applies in God's Word where HE... gives it like below...

Ezek 4:4-6
4 Lie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou shalt bear their iniquity.

5 For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.

6 And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days:
I have appointed thee each day for a year.

If you don't see that above in red accompany the Daniel phrase, "time, times, and an half", then it means to understand literally a 'time' (1 year), and 'times' (2 years), and 'and an half' (1/2 a year).

The "time, times, and an half" in the Book of Daniel represents a period of 3 and 1/2 LITERAL years, which is equal to 1260 DAYS, not years.

This is why Rev.11 shows God's two witnesses will prophesy for 1260 days within the 6th Trumpet - 2nd Woe period just prior to Christ's coming on the 7th Trumpet. The period of "a time, times, and an half" is equal to that 1260 days, which is also equal to the 42 months in that Rev.11 chapter that the Gentiles are given to tread the holy city at the end of this world. Those events are "great tribulation" timing at the end of this world, NOT PAST HISTORY.

Now I will be VERY PLAIN about that doctrine of men theory of wrongly treating those literal 1260 days instead as years...

The false prophets came up with that idea of wrongly applying the 'year for a day' theory to that "time, times, and an half" in order to DECEIVE THE BELIEVER into not understanding about the 2 ea. 1260 days period of the Daniel 9:27 symbolic "one week" (i.e, 7 years).

That symbolic "one week" of 7 years is divided in half there per the Dan.9:27 prophecy. And that means TWO 1260 day periods. In the first half of the "one week", the false-Messiah will arrive at Jerusalem and be setup as king, and will build the next 3rd temple of the Jews, and start up old covenant worship with sacrifices for the orthodox unbelieving Jews there.

Then after the 1st 1260 day period, that false-Messiah will 'place the abomination that maketh desolate' by ending the daily sacrifices, and instead placing an IDOL inside that 3rd temple, and demanding that all bow in worship to it. That event is what will begin the latter half of the "one week", which is 1260 days, and is what Jesus called the time of "great tribulation". That is the latter half of Daniel's symbolic "one week". It is when God's two witnesses will also show up in Jerusalem, and prophesy against the beast for 1260 days.

That is NOT my opinion. That is actually what God's Holy Writ teaches, as written.

All this verbage based on a non biblically supported hypothesis that a "prophetic day" must equal a year. who said this? What verse declares this?

this causes so many faulty reinterpretations of Scripture and presumptious claims. One such is that the Roman church is the Antichirst! The bible clearly states the antichirst is a person and not an institution. Also a Pope can only rise to the role of false prophet, unless the papacy once again becomes a dominant political power on earth as it was in the dark ages.

And having studied eschatology for over 35 years, have taught it for 30 years and having read hundreds of books, booklets and websites on eschatology, I can say definitively that most Biblical Scholars do not accept the RCC as the first beast of rev. 13.

And nor should a true Bible scholar believe that about a pope.

Reason is because the 1st beast of Rev.13:1-2 is about a 'kingdom' beast, because it has "ten horns, seven heads, and ten crowns".

The way the KJV words personal pronouns in that 1st beast example of Rev.13 might have something to do with country preachers who often misread that with wrongly thinking it's about a person.

KJV

Scripture interprets Scripture, so you have to read what it has precept upon precept. The Old Testament shows a clear link between the terms 'days' and 'years'. In various places the texts may be translated year or years or yearly, because that is the obvious meaning, so the Hebrew word is, literally, 'days'.

The Passover was observed “from days to days” (the literal Hebrew), though it is translated as “ ‘from year to year’ ”, take a look and compare, first KJV..
Exodus 13:10
Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.
Now YLT...
Exodus 13:10
and thou hast kept this statute at its appointed season from days to days.

Scripture declares that David and his men dwelt in the land of the Philistines “days and four months” if you look at Young’s Literal Translation, and this is changed to the obvious meaning, a period of “a year and four months,” so thus the KJV translation, “a full year and four months.”
YLT
And the number of the days which David hath dwelt in the field of the Philistines [is] days and four months;
1 Samuel 27:7
And the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.

And we see what basically has a “prophecy” of what would happen with man that directly associates 'days' and 'years'.
Genesis 6:3
And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

So in scripture we find many the verses were used as we see above, and so when you look at the Daniel prophecies, Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:6, you can see that a link between 'days' and 'years' clearly exists. So when you compare the verses..

You can see they match up and you can apply the day year principle..

That's SDA teaching. Sorry, but it is false. The ONLY time when God's Word is giving a day to represent a year is when Scripture 'directly' says so, like in the Ezekiel 4 example I showed.

And by the way, Jewish Kabbalah is likely one of the things that influenced the wrong applying of that idea where God's Word does not give it. The Kabbalah system uses a type of numerology, applying gematria to Hebrew letters, i.e., Bible Codes junk. It is Jewish Mysticism, and is a corrupt Occult system of the crept in unawares among the Jews.

So you are using various English translations of the Hebrew to establish a "day for a year" doctrine. Lousy hermenutics.

Jewish speakers would tell you Dan. 7 is 3 1/2 years Yom can mean a day, an undefined time, or a year or multiple years, all depending on the context.

so following you rlead God led Israel into teh wilderness (Rev. 12) and has fed the nation and kept her for 1260 years. WOW!

42 months being the same as 1260 days means it is not speaking of years, but days/months as it says and reconfirms more than once. It is 3 1/2 years total, speaking of how much time the beast has to rule. After this will be Armageddon where the beast will be killed.

Christ also said the length of the GT would be shortened so people could survive it. No one can survive 1260 years.

Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

But the second half of the Daniel 9:27b prophecy is over 1290 days as Daniel tells us in Chapter 12:

11 “And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.

The last week of years include an additional month added to it during the second half of the week of years. So, based on this information, a Prophetic year, during the time of Daniel can be based on either a 360 day year or a 390 day year depending on whether or not an additional month has been added. From this it is easier to assume that a prophetic year is solely based on a solar year.

They all use the prophetic day for a year and history shows its true to the timelines just as foretold.

They all use the prophetic day for a year and history shows its true to the timelines just as foretold.

Actually, the average length of a Jewish year is 365.25 days because every so often a thirteenth 30 day month was added to the Calander year to account for the time of the baily harvest and the sliver of the new moon occurring around the same time. On average nineteen Jewish adjusted years is nearly equal to 19 Solar Years in duration within a reasonably acceptable level of variation.

Take for example Daniel 9:24 where God stated that Israel had 70 weeks of years, i.e., 490 years, to repent of their sins. Under the Law, the nation was required yearly to bring a sin sacrifice for their nations' sins. Now because the length of the year was adjusted to account for the Solar variation in the Calander, as dictated by the Law, this prophetic verse gave Israel 490 opportunities to repent of their sin of turning away from God and instead their worship of Idols on a yearly basis where some years were 360 years long and some years were 390 years long.

The Idea of a fixed 360 day prophetic year was a more recent construct created by people who were attempting to generate a Chronological timeline for the Old Testament and chronologists like Bishop Ussher used this construct of multiplying the years in the Old Testament by 360 days years and then dividing the calculated number of days by 365.25 days to determine the number of years within the solar year Calander.

From my research into the Chronology of the OT I have found that it is simpler to assume that that all years within the OT are just solar years when considering long time span prophecies and that at worst the maximum error in any one year is no more than 30 days depending on when the 13th month is added to the Jewish Calander but a prophecy with a large time span the number of years between the Jewish Calander and the Solar Clander is in agreement every five years or so and this pattern is repeated every five or so years.

Two example given in the OP were tese scriptures found in Daniel: -

Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Daniel 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

What is interesting is that the Daniel 7:25 example is speaking of three and a half years, whereas the Daniel 12:7 example was speaking of three and a half ages in duration.

The first example was speaking about how long the tribulation would be while the second example is telling us the time span of the wonders that had been shown to Daniel would occur over.

Daniel in Daniel 12:7 we are told that the time, times and a half time period in Daniel 7:25 will occur over a period of 1,290 days, which indicates that one of the years had a 13th month added to that year and at the end of this time period Satan will be captured and thrown into the Lake of Fire.

Trying to piece together the time periods more accurately is an exercise in futility.

No, the 360 was the way they calculated before even Jesus, especially for a prophetic year.

No, the 360 was the way they calculated before even Jesus, especially for a prophetic year.

If we consider Daniel 9:24a, Israel was given 70 weeks of years, i.e., 490 years, to repent of their idolatrous worship, which means that they were given 490 opportunities yearly to offer up a sin sacrifice to repent. Every 40 years the number of days in the Jewish Calander coincided with the 40 years based on the solar years. Over the 40-year period the number of 360-day years is 33 and the number of 390-day years is 7.

If what you say is true, then God only gave Israel 483 years in which Israel had an opportunity to repent if you convert the number of Prophetic year days to Solar years as we understand them today. This does not make logical sense with respect to the grace that God showed to Israel before the end of the second age of their consistent idolatrous worship over the first two ages of their existence.

Hobie, holding onto "tradition" is like have very bad cataracts in your eyes when looking at God's prophetic words. The cataracts do not enable you to see clearly God's Prophetic words and as such your understanding is twisted to compensate for the cataracts that you have in your eyes. Now if your understanding is twisted to compensate for the cataracts that you have, then you have no real understanding of God's prophetic words.

Fortunately, even with the compensated understanding that you have, your denomination still accept that Christ is the Son of God, and you firmly believe this fact.

Much of what you hold to as fact is not God's facts but are only man generated facts because of your limited vision with respect to God's prophetic words.

For me, only considering Solar Years has helped me understand God's prophetic words and when future events will take place. Also looking backwards over the historical record that men have kept, it is possible to recognise when God's prophetic words have been fulfilled, like the Seventh Bowl Judgement.

Another sad fact is that by altering the meaning of just a few Hebraic and Greek words when we translate them into our English language and the context of some parable to reflect a very different understanding, we have lost our ability to understand God's words of encouragement.

You, Hobie, encourage many to accept wrong contextual understanding with your denominationally biassed teaching.

The acceptance of the Jewish Prophetic Year duration is just one such example of this fact.

Will go over it, traveling at moment.

Your not comprehending the the prophecy, the 483 years was not for Israel to repent, but for Jesus to fulfill the prophecy. So look at the verses in question.

'Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate' (Daniel 9:25-27).

The angel gives a breakdown of the 70 weeks as follows:
7 weeks of years for rebuilding of Jerusalem (verse 25)
62 weeks of years to the Messiah (verses 25-26)
1 week of years to the close of the period (verse 27)
The start of the 70-week prophecy was to begin at the command that effected the restoration of Jerusalem. This command went forth under King Artaxerxes Longimanus in the year 457 BC (Ezra 7:12-13).

From this starting point, we can determine the time markers of the prophecy. Seven weeks were allotted for the restoration of Jerusalem. True to the prophecy, Jerusalem was rebuilt 49 years after 457 BC, which was 408 BC.

Seven weeks (49 day-years) for the rebuilding of Jerusalem and another threescore and two weeks (62 weeks or 434 day-years) brings us to "the Messiah the Prince." Beginning in 457 BC and applying the day-year principle, we can determine the passing of 483 years from 457 BC which brings us to 27 AD. So lets look at what happens a according to ancient Jewish law and custom, thirty years was considered the age of full maturity, physically and mentally, and suitable for high degrees of responsibility: “David was thirty years old when he became king” (2 Samuel 5:4); “Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh” (Genesis 41:46). The Jewish Levites began their priestly service at age thirty (Numbers 4:3, 23, 30, 35). Why did Jesus wait thirty years before He started His ministry? | GotQuestions.org

In 27 AD, Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit on the occasion of His baptism which marked the beginning of His ministry, and this is 1 week of years (27 AD-34 AD) to the close of the 70 week prophecy.
'Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,'(Luke 3:21-23)

This baptism marked the event in Daniel’s prophecy “unto the Messiah the Prince.” When Christ proclaimed, “The time is fulfilled” (Mark 1:15), He was referring to this part of the prophecy.

So the end of the prophecy is 34 AD, 7 day-years after the baptism:
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease (Daniel 9:27).

Christ would confirm the covenant made with Israel for one prophetic week (7 years), but oblation (offerings) would cease in the middle of the week (3 ½ years after 27 AD). This mid-point brings us to 31 AD, exactly the year Christ was crucified. It was at His death that he put an end to the system of offerings practiced by Israel for so many years. The Prophecy was fulfilled exactly as given.
