Here is how to understand..

1.) "made righteous", as "the righteousness OF GOD..... "in Christ".

Who is that?

That is ALL the born again. ......"Jesus said... you must be born again".

2.) So, what is "righteousness"?

Its God's nature, and its Christ's nature who is God. Its beyond being sinless.... its Pure Holiness and Truth, itself.

So, here is how to understand what it means to become .. .""a New Creation in Christ"". = having the "gift of righteousness".

Its very simple to understand, but believing it is going to offend your flesh, and yet, until you do, you'll have no power over your lust.

Its this reader...

When you went to Jesus, believing, God did something that is ETERNAL.
He performed :

A.) The Divine Exchange.

This means, that Jesus became ALL your sin....and you became "the righteousness of God in Christ", born again.
This means that your sin went to Jesus who was slain for it...."God hath made JESUS to be sin for us".... and Christ's Righteous became you as : "A new Creation IN Christ"..... "made righteous"... "One with God'"

See that?
Now, here is how you understand what that means...
It means that because of your new birth in the Spirit, God has BIRTHED you Spiritually as being exactly like Christ's Righteousness.
In other words... You are now re-recreated spiritually, as if you lived the Holy Life that Jesus offered to God, that is sinless, righteous, and pure.
This is the 'imputed" "GIFT of Righteousness" that is "The GIFT of Salvation"
That is every born again CHRISTian, = has become this....by Spiritual Birth, through the Blood Atonement (New Covenant) Redemption.

= "AS JESUS IS...... so are the born again....in THIS World"

= "made Righteous".

= "Being NOW.....made free from sin"..

Yep...100% believe this....Amen!

Completely free from sin, it has no hold over me, Jesus set me free from all of my sin...past, present , future.....I confess NO sin.

1 John 3:9
Context Crossref Comment Greek
Verse (Click for Chapter)
New International Version
No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.

New Living Translation
Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God.

English Standard Version
No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.

Berean Standard Bible
Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.

So now you don't sin? Oh boy.
You can go steal something from the store now, and it wont be held against you?

And you no longer have to pray "Forgive us our debts", as Jesus told us to?

Yes, true that we have been made the righteousness of Christ......but also remember the little parable about the woman adding the leaven (good leaven of the gospel) into three measures of meal and then having to work it through the whole dough? Three measures of meal....spirit, soul and body. I consider that we have been made the righteousness of Christ in our spirit/heart, the inner man, and partially in our soul depending on the measure of grace we received to start with. But it takes time for that leaven to be worked throughout all of our spirit, soul and body. Why would the Lord be chastising us as sons in this life if we didn't need it? We're being kneaded and pounded and buffeted - through fire and water - in order to break down our old man and work the leaven in throughout our whole being, spirit, soul and body, for His glory. That's how i understand this, taking all of scripture together.

I'm not completely sure how to understand the following, but it does illustrate the idea of growth, and it might be saying also, for one thing at least, that we have this lifetime to mature, to bring fruit to perfection. So even though we've been made the righteousness of Christ we aren't necessarily perfected yet, since we need to grow and mature and "go on to perfection" as it says elsewhere.

Mar 4:26-29

And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;

And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.

For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.

But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

I consider that we have been made the righteousness of Christ in our spirit/heart, the inner man,

The born again Spirit, is the Son/Daughter of God.

Your "body is dead because of sin", and your mind is not born again.

If you are born again, and not just water baptized and religious, then your Born Again Spirit is already "one with God" and 'in Christ".

This, is the only YOU< that God sees, as this is the Son-Daughter of God.

There is no other., as "God is A Spirit" and the born again are SPIRITUALLY, "in Christ". "one with God".

Thats not your body.
That's not your mind.

Your body is not redeemed. Nor your hands, nor your feet, nor your mind.

You'll get a new body.

Now, if you want to perform kind acts and good works that include what you are describing, then you do this, already "one with God", "made righteous".,,,,, if you are born again.

See, you dont make yourself righteous, and works are just works.
They are nothing more then that, but they can be symbolic.

However, being born again, is not symbolic.
Its Literal.
The born again are literally become "The Righteousness of God", "in Christ'... and that is part time.
That is for eternity.

What is : imputed Righteousness

Did Jesus talk about imputed righteousness?
Rom_4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

Rom_4:22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

Rom_4:23
Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

Rom_4:24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

Rom_5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Jas_2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

The Scriptures do.

Did Jesus talk about imputed righteousness?

Yes.

He gave this Doctrine....The "Doctrine of Salvation", personally to Paul the Apostle.

In 2nd Corinthians, its explained as..

""God made Jesus who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

See that?

That is a double imputation.

That is God imputing our sin to Christ as..."God hath made Jesus to be sin for us">.

And God imputing His Righteousness to us, as "we might become the righteousness of God, in Him".

This is "the Gift of Righteousness.

That is the Divine Exchange.

""God made Jesus who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
Before we could receive this righteousness in Jesus, we had to be cleansed by his blood, then birthed in the Spirit?....this is a supernatural act that only God can do through the Spirit?

We cannot birth ourselves into Christ.

Hebrews 7:23-28

He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.1

@Behold ...once and for all his word says here?

So, he took the sins of the whole world ...including mine...therefore he has all of my sin and I don’t have any sin in me....,apart from my old mindset...which is slowly being transformed by the renewing of my mind.....?

I became right with God the night of my birth...that’s when the process of being made into the image of Christ begins......it’s been an extremely hard journey, but, the Holy Spirit has been faithful and kept me on that narrow path/ road...the traumas I have been through...I could NEVER have got through it, Without Jesus/ Holy Spirit.....Praise God all Glory to the Lord...my testimony.and belief.

You do realize in an open debate/discussion this kind of reasoning is not going to hold?
Johann.
Why do you revert to the same strategy whenever you are put on the spot Johann? what strategy is that you might ask? that of side stepping, of attempting a decoy, and offering unasked for advice.
You post so many many words in different threads yet when it comes to addressing something as basic as my question, you engage as mentioned.

In other words... You are now re-recreated spiritually [REGENERATION], as if you lived the Holy Life that Jesus offered to God [IMPARTED RIGHTEOUSNESS], that is sinless, righteous, and pure. This is the 'imputed" "GIFT of Righteousness" that is "The GIFT of Salvation" [THE GIFIT OF ETERAL LIFE]
Still trying to teach instead of trying to learn? You are failing miserably. You are confusing (a) REGENERATION (b) THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE and (c) IMPARTED RIGHTEOUSNESS (a false Catholic concept) with imputed righteous. And the fact that you failed to provide the actual relevant Scriptures regarding imputed righteousness means that you are manufacturing your own theology.

According to the Bible when a sinner repents and puts his faith on the Lord Jesus Christ, God IMPUTES or RECKONS or COUNTS to that believer the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST. In other words, the believer is deemed to be as righteous as Christ because of his faith. Just as Abraham BELIEVED GOD and it was imputed to him for righteousness.

This is NOT imparted righteousness but imputed righteousness. Big difference. This is also not regeneration, nor justification, nor sanctification, nor the gift of eternal life. They are all related to salvation but they are all distinct from each other.

ROMANS 4: IMPUTED RIGHTEOUSNESS BASED UPON GENUINE FAITH
What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
9Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was
reckonedto Abraham for righteousness.
10How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
11And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
12And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.
13For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
14For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
15Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
16Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
18Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:
20He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

25Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

NOTICE THAT THE WORDS "IMPUTED", "RECKONED" AND "COUNTED" ARE USED OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
