"
Old things have passed, all things have become new"...but are not to be misunderstood: These are the times of the gentiles wherein Paul explained, each comes "
each in his own order." Israel came each one in his order too, but died until salvation had come in Christ, whom He first brought (
John 10:16), which, having died, were raised up with Christ and are now "
the dead in Christ." But we the gentiles, Christ has descended into the depths of the earth gathering the harvest from the past, after which He explained saying, "
I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." Which would occur until the end, to one and to all ("
anyone") who would hear, which Paul elaborated to say, "
but each one in his own order."
Granted, it is a difficult thing for time-dwelling mortals to conceive that every act of God involving salvation--is not of the world and therefore not on that same timeline per say, but eternally in God in Christ. God is the same always. In other words, Salvation is of God, not according to the times of this world, but according to the eternal context of God. Thus, when it was "
finished" with Christ, it
was finished with God for all who are in Christ (in God).
Jesus has been given all power and authority. He was One with the Father before the foundation of the world, lowered Himself to the level of men for the sake of salvation, but is now One again. The use of the words King and Lord, is simply the appropriate language to use when referring to those being saved. Yet, as He prayed, that is not the end of the matter, but rather we too following Him as "firstfruits" are to be One with God as well, just as They are One--that was His prayer.
