I voted anyway... 26 and above.
Thanks for your vote and comments! I can see maybe that the rationale for your vote is that some measure of maturity is wise before going for inking.

Some Christians concentrate on the witness, conversation-starter properties of faith /Bible based tattoos, and so I guess the motivation is often to do it when they and their immediate peers are younger, in order to take advantage of the witness opportunities.

Can't really comment here, nothing in OP or thread title is relevant to Scripture or biblical Christianity. Sorry!
This is fine; thanks; you had mentioned about your ink; and so I wondered from a practical perspective whether you had any wisdom/ regrets, etc. about the ages when it is typically done.

But if not, fine also.

Absolutely, I believe I’ve heard it stated that 90% of all conversation is expressive, or something like that.
PS: This is very strong and revealing language. I can see how Christian young men and women, having recently reached adulthood, with expectation of so many witness conversations, would in response say about a first Bible verse /faith tattoo: I want to become a tattooed man / woman now.

From what you said about conversation expressiveness, it makes a great deal of sense, doesn't it?

Thank-you, Sir. Seems like you think this is a good idea also (rather than allowing it for under-18s).

On the County and city levels I wholeheartedly supported the age restriction and tight laws regarding health and other inspections. Tattooing has a lot of risks.

Not to mention how many people later on regret getting tattoos and want them removed. Then they find out about it being more painful to remove than to apply, the health risks and the skin discoloration.

It is a choice to get one, but I do not think a wise one.

Thanks for your comment, Sir. In terms of the personal responsibility it demands, it indeed seems to be an adult activity, rather than an adolescent one.

@Naomi25 FYI...new poll, focusing particularly on the age of the recipient...(I was informed an older one had expired).
I feel that this is sort of an odd question for a poll and just outright. First...it sort of implies that there WILL be an age for a first tattoo, and for many people this question just isn't part of their life. Then you have people who feel that they are being led by scripture to avoid ink, and that would be a matter of conscious, I believe, and their right, just as those who choose to exercise their freedom in Christ have that right as well.
I suppose I'm saying that getting a tattoo is always an individual choice; one made after that individual has weighed all the factors. And that's not really something you can put an age to, I think.
Do I feel, personally, that teenagers should wait? Sure...cause teenagers can be impulsive and dumb and often regret their decisions. After all, their brains are still forming. But, on the flip side of that...some people never grow out of stupid, or impulsive. And some teenagers are born serious thinkers. So...again...I'm just not sure you can put an age boundary on something like this.

C'mon guys, surely a question of this nature being asked betrays spiritual immaturity if not a complete lack of spiritual growth!

Sorry about the theft that happened to you.

Something like this, maybe (but maybe much smaller?)

I guess it could be said that being willing to receive the ink injectings is not really about feeling good as an adult - as a woman - as much as it would in theory anyway be about strongly and clearly communicating what you stand for - what one stands for.

(In any case, maybe your son's motives would have been distinct.)
Yes farouk, just like that only a lot, lot smaller.

But what about how the bible tells us not to put tattoos on our bodies?
Hi Pearl,
The whole chapter in Leviticus needs to be taken in context of the whole - i am not sure it is right to just take one verse and say it is forbidden now, when the rest of the list is there. There is one verse that condemns mixing two kinds of material together, I e wool and cotton - well we must surely be guilty of doing that in our modern age. There is also the law that Farouk mentioned about beard cutting. I believe it is about understanding the culture then, and why these things were forbidden- they would have made sense to the Israelites.
I mean you go further into scriptur and read all the things that women were forbidden to do, and the things we were told to do regarding head covering ect - well we do not conform to that because our own culture does not interpret no head covering as meaning a women of loose morals !
To me it's cultural - obviously I do sit on the other side because I have a tattoo , but I did look through scripture and reflect on it before I got one- and it was also something I had to deal with as my sons reached 18 and got tattoos.
This is only my opinion on the matter, thank goodness for grace.
Rita xx

Yes, I thought maybe something like that is what you would be looking for if you did it, like you say, only a lot smaller.

Maybe your son would be surprised at first? but he would likely get used to it, just as you got used to his.
