Well God never required a temple, nor would he let David build one.
Moses and God set up a Tabernacle. Sounds easier than a temple to me. But us humans want the hardest task to show how great we are.

The citizens of the State of Israel are peoples from many ethnicities. None can really prove descent from Judah or Jacob.
Partially, perhaps. But there are many other prophesies that await fulfillment;
Zephaniah 1:4-18 I shall stretch out My hand over Judah, over all that live in Jerusalem. On the Day of the Lord’s sacrifice, I shall wipe out all traces of idol worship and I will punish all those complacent people. All who commit crimes of violence and fraud will fall with a great crash. The great Day of the Lord is near and coming fast - His Day of wrath and distress onto the peoples. Their blood and guts will pour out like dung upon the ground and nothing can save them from the fire of His judgement. He will make a sudden and terrible end to all who live in the holy Land.
Habakkuk 3:16-17….I long for the Day of Disaster to dawn over our enemies. [Then, after that Day -] The fig tree has no buds, the vine has no harvest…there are no sheep in the fold and no cattle in the stalls.
Ezekiel 15:8 I will make the Land a waste, for My people have broken faith.
Jeremiah 10:18…This time I shall throw out the whole population of the Land.
Ezekiel 21:3 Say to the Land: I am against you, I shall draw My sword of slaughter and make away with both the righteous and wicked alike.
Isaiah 10:23 The Lord will bring a final destruction upon the whole Land.
Isaiah 6:11-13…cities will be ruined, houses left without occupants and the Land will lie desolate and a waste. Only a stump remains – a holy seed. [In Jerusalem]
Zechariah 3:9 In a single Day, I shall wipe away all evil from the holy Land.
Amos 1:1-15, Amos 2:5 I shall send fire onto Judah, fire to consume their palaces.

Isaiah 10:17-19 The Lord will become a fire that in a single Day will destroy His enemies. Suddenly the trees and pastures of His holy Land will be consumed, what will remain will be so few, a child could count them.
Jeremiah 9:21-22 Death has come to our towns, corpses lie like dung in the streets.
Joel 1:19-20…fire has consumed the pastures and burned every tree in the Land. All the streams have dried up.
Jeremiah 9:10-11 The Land is scorched and untrodden, not even birds or beasts remain. Jerusalem and the towns of Judah are ruined and uninhabited.
Jeremiah 33:10 Judah and Jerusalem lie in ruins, uninhabited by man or beast.
Jeremiah 4:26-28 I looked and the fruitful Land was like a desert, all its towns lay in ruins before the Lord’s fierce anger. The Lord says: The entire holy Land will be devastated, but I will not destroy it completely. Only want to share with you, thinking this morning about our conversation yesterday on restoration. Consider: “And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.” Isaiah 58:12
Job 24:13-15 They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof. “ and thou shall be called ...the Restorer of paths to dwell in.”

John 14:3-7 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. [4] And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. [6] Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. [7] If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
A literal third temple will not be built, they are only teasing, for they know that some believe in the false doctrine of a literal temple being built.
This sounds rather ominous to the restoration the God is going to do.....I am sure there will be those who continue in the way that they have become accustomed to and will
ViJ I had to do some bible study here with what you presented....I always read the whole chapter when someone gives a verse to gather the context of it.
I can't determine what is your conclusion with these verses....
Starting with Isaiah 58:5-14
5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?
6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?
8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward.

14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
So here God is addressing the vanity of their fasting....saying it was for strife and debate....4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.
and He then corrects them and tells them the correct way to fast that was acceptable to Him...
So God is saying fast and pray for their transgressions..to obey His commandments to feed the hungry, care for the afflicted, put away speaking vanity....and to honor the Sabbath....and in obeying Him in this then He will
guide them continually, and satisfy their soul in drought, and make fat their bones: and they shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
Then they are honored in that God calls them the repairer of the breech, the restorer of paths to dwell in. (paths of righteousness)

Job is describing the degree to which wicked men will go to satisfy their lusts and greed for worldly goods.
This is Matthew Henry's commentary which I don't like to use commentaries but it he says it pretty good....

Of course the Jews will not build a new Temple. Most of the citizens of the State of Israel do not want it.
But it is quite apparent that there will be a Temple in Jerusalem during the end times.
Bible prophecy tells us, in many graphically described scriptures, that the Lord will clear and cleanse His holy Land, Deuteronomy 32:34-43, Zephaniah 1:14-18, then only His faithful people will live there. Isaiah 35, Ezekiel 34:11-18, Zechariah 8:1-9....Jerusalem will be called the city of faithfulness and the mount of the Lord, will be called the Holy Mountain.
Great will be the time when every faithful believer praises the Lord in the holy Land. John sees them there in Revelation 7:9

warning: I’m emotional this morning. Was just telling my husband I really don’t care if any one agrees. Not to be ugly as in I don’t care what others think, instead in light of how good God is no one can convince me otherwise. my brother and mother both have Covid. Especially my mother at her age may not recover and many may say she is not a believer so there is that. But I know God will raise them up and restore them. Not saying she will walk out of the hospital, I pray she does. But see she tired. even if she doesn’t Walk out of the hospital, God said a prayer of Faith will save the sick and He will raise up the former desolations and restore them. To anoint them with His Spirit. Get some may say I’m delusional but, yes maybe He was speaking of Jerusalem or that third temple over there being restored but before it can be restored there has to be “made desolate.” and restoration only comes from above, that prepared of God for those (Not a cold religious structure)who love Him. Sorry if that is too much but you asked for an explanation and that is the best I have. “the former desolations”...they that be of You “the repairer of the breech, the restorer of paths to dwell in” will “raise up“ out of death the former desolations; consider with Paul saying he was filling up those things “behind” with the sufferings of Christ. and God has given them (those of Him)the power to become the Sons of God....what power to become Sons of God except “those that be of You shall raise up the former desolations and rebuild” yes, in your above Christ was comforting and was about to be betrayed. He said ”this body ...destroy it and He will raise it “the former desolations” again”.
Isaiah 61:4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
How often it is spoken of pertaining to the body as what is made desolate and destroyed (In fear not what is done to the body)and how often the hope in God who is able to raise it ”the former desolations” up again. If that isn’t restoration then I don’t know what is. As He promised a prayer of faith will save the sick James 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall (restore)raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Not saying you have to agree. A question: how can He say the former things are forgotten(I will remember them no more), that if any be in Christ he is a new creature the old things passed away, to not look to what is behind...God saying He will remember the former things no more, yet God raises up those former desolations and restores them? destroy (murder, steal, kill and destroy) this body, and I will raise it up again (that they may have Life more abundantly)?

There ain't gonna be no new man made "temple" and thus no need for a "red heifer".
Now there IS a "temple" where the Holy Spirit resides, and it has been sanctified by Jesus. -- And it's US.
