The Protestant Pedophiles are buried within almost every single family...
My uncle for one...got to my brothers and all my male cousins.
Then my older brother was "got at" by his Sunday school teacher at the Brethren Church we went to.
Pedophiles do not care about crossing denominational lines...they just ARE!!!
We Protestants have our fair share of boy scout leaders and youth leader in their churches who take advantage of the children in their care...
Just arguing about who is worst does nothing at all.
Let the Church who is without sin cast the first stone.
Agree.
Thanks for sharing your personal knowledge, albeit a sad story.
The problem of sexual child abuse is Not a Religious Problem.
Such a problem is instigated and perpetuated and overlooked; by another Older than the child, be it an older sibling, dad, mom, g-pa, g-ma, aunt, uncle, cousin, neighbor, babysitter, teacher, clergy Or stranger....
It becomes disgusting news when such news is revealed to be a Parent ...
and
Abhorrent when such news is discovered to be within the clergy or church elders...
and
Alarming and Intolerant (to some), (but not all which IS ALSO alarming)...When Clery have no apparent consequence for their actions...AND are ALLOWED continued Private Access to children.
The Catholic Church historically has Received much criticism for the Results of "HOW they were Allowed TO (legally) Handle Cleric abuse".
Historically Catholic Cleric abuse of children was "handled" "internally" .
Internal...
Complaints, investigations, findings, consequences, etc. ...and the Whole of <--THAT kept... Internal...out of the courts, public, news, congregation, etc.
And more times than Not, the Accusers complaint was dismissed and the Cleric remained in position without consequence and the "reputation of the church" remained constant and everyone was happy, except the "abused child".
^ The "Internal investigations" of the Catholic Church remain regarding sexual child abuse; yet is no longer "Limited" to ONLY the Church.
Parents CAN, but are not encouraged to take a sexual child abuse matter to authorities Outside of the Church.
More recent news reveals moreso of adults WHO WERE abused as children...when nothing was resolved WHEN they were children.
Their Now speaking about WHAT WAS ... lands merely on Awarness and Warnings...
Since the law of civil authorities is limited by time constraint to prosecute.
However...the "news" puts a bad smell on the Catholic Church and becomes an irritant to Church members who love their Church and clerics and have not experienced or have first hand knowledge or such abuse.
Protestants can also lodge a complaint with their Church and IMO historically have no reservations in ALSO lodging a complaint with Civil authorities.
So bottom line is:
It is not really About Catholic child abusers VS Protestant child abusers....
But rather:
1) does the child notify a trusted adult
2) does the "Trusted" adult investigate, proceed with consequences, "AND" Keep the child "protected" from the alledged Abuser AT ALL Times.
God Bless,
