@Naomi25 PS: Did you check the poll results, above, lately?
Hmm. I must say I am a bit surprised. I wonder if the vote is just based on their own personal preference...as in "I'd never get a tattoo at any age"....or it was them saying "It's never okay to get a tattoo at any age".
I would have thought more people would have recognized, regardless of personal preference, the freedom we have in Christ in such matters.
I wonder what they think of those individuals who have tattoos and then become saved?

Thanks for the comment!

While 14 voted 'never', 11 voted other options. I guess that looking at the results from a perspective of proportionality is also significant.

"I wonder if the vote is just based on their own personal preference...as in "I'd never get a tattoo at any age" : maybe there was an element of this present in some of the votes, yes...

I have not read the post here yet !! But feel its not good......

My husband had 2 of them one on the arm for the service , and one for mom and dad.

If I cared about them back then,,,, I would have told him put me on also.
But I guess as I grew older I am now glad I just ignored that......

I voted before I posted and did not see any thing there. and now I voted
again and I am going to look and see if its still there ........ because
I went to look and no one is voting ???? or it just does not show UP ????

Just took a look my vote is there,,,, but no other's .... wonder why ????????

Dear @Grams, thank-you for your post! Re the poll, you vote isn't showing (at, least, on my screen); maybe a mod. could help?

Or maybe if you tried again it would register....

All votes and comments gratefully received!

I don't like tattoes.
Just my opinion.
Don't mess up your body.
Thanks for your comment. Seems like a lot of Christians appreciate the opportunity to receive faith based ones these days; my wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 inked on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also.

hey, it's his body ...I have no problems with his tattoos.
This is also how a lot of young Christians seem to think: they seem to want to use some of their skin in a God honoring text or faith message.

My wife and I were talking to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 inked on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also (and I'm sure other conversations have arisen as a result of her willingness to be injected in this way).

If this makes some sense, whether one likes it or not?

You do seem to be rather obsessed by the idea of tattoos farouk. Can't remember if I asked if you have one. Do you, or your wife?

Well, what do you make of the quote in the OP? :) I wouldn't use the word obsessed but over here they are very, very widespread and among many Christians it's a widely used means of expression. (If you look again at the OP quote, you might see what I mean.) A design I had on my arm did fade and wasn't successful. While there was some talk with my wife about the subject she didn't get one.

So if you've looked at the OP quote, do you see what I mean? maybe in the UK it's a bit different.

@farouk Hi farouk, I thought about you this afternoon whilst I was out in town. As I waited for my husband to come back from doing an errand I sat on a bench in the sunshine. There was already a man sitting there and we got into conversation and I noticed he had a rather nice tattoo on his right forearm and I commented on how nice it was. It was the nicest one I have ever seen and depicted a dragon fly with a green body and shimmery golden wings amongst frondy grasses. I was so delicate and finely drawn by a really talented artist. It was on the inside of his arm and on the outside he had an oak tree by the same artist but it wasn't as nice. Now don't get your hopes up, I'm not planning to get inked any time soon. But it was a work of art.

Neat, meaningful tribal tattoos done in the proper setting in the traditional manner and with patterns that have centuries of tradition and genuine interpretative 'language' associated with them I fully understand. It is a matter of identity and roots. They tell a story. They are neat, orderly, and truly artistic, and they are real.
@brakelite Tattooed men and women might sometimes be portrayed as being somehow very modern and avant-garde, but actually they evidence a deep-rooted, traditional and historic manner of expression when they are prepared and willing to allow various artistic languages and patterns of inking to be pumped into their skin.

I'm sure you would agree.
