@Waiting on him The now thoroughly well established entry of women into the tattoo scene has undoubtedly contributed to the widespread use of more colorful ink in many designs; I agree.

And I'm sure your daughter has done her part; made her own contribution, so to speak.
I’m still considering buying her a gun.

...a lot of younger people do think of getting a tattoo, and as Christians, many of them would naturally think about one with a Christian message.... And, sure, if it were me getting it done, of course I'd prefer a Christian artist.
@Naomi25 ...which kind of begs the question of the increasing viability of tattoo parlor work, for Christians with a flair for work, I guess (hence the poll and discussion, if this makes sense?)

I’d never seen one, looks like a miniature scroll saw
Well, I'm sure your daughter would tell you more about how interesting a profession it is and about the skills which are developed to be able to use the tattooing equipment. So is she still considering it as a career? (or work sideline, etc.)

She’s focused primarily on her art right now.

Well, even before becoming a tattoo artist, artistic skills generally need to be honed and enhanced, thoroughly.

So has your wife also relaxed a bit any previous reservations about your daughter eventually doing tattoos as a living?

I guess she like you has figured that your daughter will in any case have become by now very familiar and comfortable with a parlor environment.

I’ll pass that one to her @VictoryinJesus

ears & noses have an acceptable context
@Sabertooth In theory some Fundamentalists might be "against" piercing ears and noses "on principle", but Scripturally and in practice there is nothing to stop the daughter of a Fundamentalist preacher training to pierce ears and noses, frankly. It's a service often offered in parlors.

I agree but so many of the other variations (and even those two in a wrong context) seem to approach the territory prohibited in Leviticus 19:28,

"You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord."

For tattoos to have any legitimacy before God, we must interpret "nor tattoo any marks on you" to also be, specifically, "for the dead," just as the prohibition for graven images is limited to objects of worship.

But just as Ezekiel 16:12 & Leviticus 19:28 co-exist in the same Bible, they also co-exist in said parlors. And the former does not legitimize the latter. It won't even give unbelieving artists pause.

Obviously piercing ears and noses should not involve necromancy....

What about a tattoo of a skull impaled by a dagger, and a snake coming out of its eye socket...? Or just astrological [should be astromancy] signs??

There has also been a link between some of the more exotic piercings & acupuncture.

Oh you're talking about specific tattoo designs again now, rather than the practice of piercing ears and noses.... (Admittedly some tattoo designs are a bit weird, yes...)

I don't have a problem with ear piercing or nose piercing; and so I guess logically by extension I wouldn't find it problematic for young - or older - Christians to do this kind of work, either.
