... At this point in my life, though, I'm getting closer to 50 and getting another tattoo at this stage in my life isn't for me.
PS: It's probably a bit different between men and women also, at least, sometimes.

In terms of what's widespread and more or less conventional, while for men it was always an option to get ink, for women it's become more of an option to do it in recent decades.

So at around 40 or 50 it's not unusual for some women to start getting ink, whereas years ago they might not have contemplated it.

(If you see the perspective...?)

I have often pondered the idea of a tattoo that reflects my faith.....never know when it might be a witness to someone....would definitely be a conversation starter about Jesus!

@Heart2Soul So do you think if years ago it had been more widespread for women to get tattooed, it would have been more likely that years ago you would have had it done?

Without doubt, a lot of young people - including some Christians - do it at around 18, as a coming of age thing. Do you find this inherently problematic? or would it be wiser to embrace the idea that it's done at around this age so often and that young Christians can usefully be pointed to the idea of getting something specifically faith based rather than just any ink because it's coming of age time?
Honestly, I don't have an opinion on it. IF people want to get a tattoo, it's entirely their own choice on when and what. I have no place to judge on it. I think as Christians under Christ we have to recognize that people have that freedom and it's up to their own conscience...up to their own 'conversation with God' if you want.

I never had been to a tattoo parlor.
Did I tell you that my wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area - it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also; and for it, it must have seemed well worth getting used to the inside of a tattoo parlor and putting up with some pain also.
