... even though one is free to get one, it might not be beneficial for a number of reasons. ... you may not get the approval of other Christians and that is okay if you honestly feel that it is the right thing to do.
@Lady Crosstalk I guess the many young Christian men and women, convicted with certainty that inherently conversation-starting Bible verse/witness tattoo designs will lead to many testimony opportunities, might well indeed regard the benefits of their to be tattooed designs greatly to outweigh any non-beneficial aspects, if you can follow my thinking?

Young Christian men and women who decide to do it for these reasons, might well think they are exercising their freedom wisely.

Perhaps so. :cool:

Although you might originally have had reservations about your sons' tattoos, later did your sons evidently seem pleased for your sake that in the end your own decision to get tattooed made you feel good?
I nev showed my sons that I was struggling with what they were doing, it was an inward transition , and reaction, to them getting older and becoming independent. I didn't have really strong views about tattoos - I still don't.
They thought it was quite funny that their mum, at the age of 50, was getting a tattoo - they thought it was ' cool ' ( think that was the in word at the time from my youngest son ) lol

I guess they determined to do it confidently with no regrets more or less 'because they were men'?

In a sense (belatedly, even? though belatedly might not be the word), you eventually likewise determined fulfillingly to do it confidently with no regrets 'because you are a woman'?

:)

it sort of implies that there WILL be an age for a first tattoo
@Naomi25
So many young men and women do it as a coming of age thing at around 18.

I guess the fact of the poll sort of floats the idea that maybe this isn't the only age to do it and that maybe there is value to doing it - if done at all at a different stage of life.

(If this makes sense?)

C'mon guys, surely a question of this nature being asked betrays spiritual immaturity if not a complete lack of spiritual growth!
@quietthinker
I guess that the young men and women who know that a Bible verse / faith based tattoo design is likely to occasion many witness conversations are getting inked in the confidence that it may be more fruitful to embrace the medium than to resist it. (If this makes some sense?)

Certainly. I have no doubt there are many people who are too hesitant when young but change their minds as they get older. Again, a pretty individual thing, I suppose. I just hope whenever they decide to do it, they choose a tattoo artist worth his salt..."no regerts"..! Ha! I don't think I'll ever stop laughing about that one!

@brakelite I guess that the ink designs both exemplify and encourage confident men and women who want to be tattooed, right?
No, not really. Most tattoos I see today look like the detention desks we had to sit at when naughty at school. Neat, meaningful tribal tattoos done in the proper setting in the traditional manner and with patterns that have centuries of tradition and genuine interpretative 'language' associated with them I fully understand. It is a matter of identity and roots. They tell a story. They are neat, orderly, and truly artistic, and they are real.
But while I may appreciate them on those to whom they rightly belong, I have no more time for "Christian" tattoos than I do for "Christian" rock music..."Christian" pagan anything is hypocricy nd still pagan. Baptising heathen tradition makes it no more Christian than pretending my car is Christian because I took it through the car wash.

So you remained strong until you, too, in time learned by life experience how tattooing could make you feel, right?

I guess some Christian young men and women might opt for a Bible verse tattoo in the spirit of Jeremiah 20.9, which you quote.

Thanks for your comments.
