@Prayer Warrior It's anyway what a proportion of Christian women now as well as men are going to do, because faith based tattoo designs do stimulate faith related discussions. (If this now makes sense? :) )

Thanks to all who voted so far in the poll!

NB: If you have not yet voted in the poll, please vote now! :)

(The poll expires in late December; so we are well over halfway through its period of activity...)

@OzSpen Yes; getting inked for testimony can be a manly act! (And, nowadays, womanly also, right?)

@Josho So anyway you do understand the basic desire to get tattooed? the basic desire to pierce one's ears? (often parlors do both).

@Truth Thanks for your vote in the poll, Sir!

So are you surprised at the poll results so far? ...or maybe they are what you might have expected?

Well, not really, I have in times past considered getting a Tattoo, but considered the cost and then placing marks on myself, just wasn't justifiable to me. Now as I am older and see how the world has taken to this so called form of art, I really do not want to join in with the world!

@Truth Thanks, Sir, for your thoughtful post. I know some Christians prefer not to do it at all. My wife and I did talk to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; she said it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also and I'm sure other conversations have arisen as a result of her willingness to go to the parlor for it. Some Christians instead of fighting the medium instead seem to embrace it and use it as a faith testimony opportunity. I don't know what any Mrs. @Truth may think / have thought but undoubtedly the opening of women to participation in inking has made a huge difference to the amount of faith based ink that there is now. (If this makes any sense? leaving aside developing personal preferences.)

    PS:
@Truth So anyway you can at least understand the reason for the growth in tattoo parlors (and their services and work opportunities, right? which the poll kind of focuses on).

@Waiting on him Oh she already got it, then? :)

Because I think you were considering buying it for her maybe to help her set up in business if she wanted to go ahead and do it...

She says would have to work as an apprentice for 1 year minimum, to be licensed.

@Waiting on him Sounds like she is considering it seriously, anyway and if she does, seems like you and @VictoryinJesus would support her decision...right?

I just changed my Avatar this morning, I guess this will have to do for my personal attempt at gaining interest in other's! Basically the same, except I can remove it, wash it, and expose it again! LOL

"Grey" only applies to lack of clarity. Jewelry, like graven images, isn't (of itself) demonic. (A good example would be a typical wedding ring or a family photo.)

Amulets & idols, OTOH, ARE demonic. Romans 14 wouldn't be their defining scripture; Acts of the Apostles 19:19 would be. Read vv. 11-20 for context. Demonization doesn't occur based on personal preferences, but rather based on particular spiritual principles (even if we are ignorant of them).

Making sense is a low bar. The Holy Spirit is engaged in heart-work. The sensibility of such only becomes clear after-the-fact. Argument is a poor substitute for His transformation of us and, even if correct, can be a counterfeit to what He is doing/wants to do.

"Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, 'These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.' And this she did for many days.

But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, 'I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.' And he came out that very hour." Acts of the Apostles 16:16-18 NKJV

On its face, it did not "make sense" to cast out a demon when she was telling the truth and was a source of free publicity. God's ways are not our ways.

Early in my marriage, I would be manipulative of my bride whenever I thought that she was in spiritual error. God showed me that, even if I were 100% correct (and successful at doing so), she would be conformed to MY image, not His. [IMG]

God wants us to show the same consideration to His Bride.

@Sabertooth I take your point about the dangers of the occult; the term 'grey area' is well known in legal circles to describe a huge number of nuanced situations where sometime does not wholly fit one category only.

    @Sabertooth I appreciate the example given! :)

I guess Mrs. @Sabertooth hasn't ever considered inkings, faith based or otherwise...

@Truth Oh so you're comparing the avatar showing the shirt which is not permanent, with a tattoo which indeed is! :)

Not that she has brought up, but it is still her call (except for 1 Corinthians 7:4).

I will still weigh in on varous issues, but if I am in no way responsible for the consequences, I leave such decisions up to her.
