How will that land be theirs forever in light of this:
2 Peter 3:10 But
the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. 11 Since
everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13
But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
All of God's people should be "looking forward to a new heaven and new earth, where righteousness dwells", not just some measly piece of land that is nothing compared to the eternal new earth.
Why don't you change your perspective like Abraham and the other Old Testament saints did and look for an eternal heavenly country and a city whose builder and maker is God instead of a relatively small piece of land on this earth? Have you never read the New Testament?
Hebrews 11:
8
By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. 9
By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. 10
For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. 11 And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she[
b] considered him faithful who had made the promise. 12 And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore. 13
All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. 14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16
Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
Abraham himself does not have the same expectations for the future that you have. Why don't you try to be like him and look forward to a better country, a heavenly one, and a "city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God"? God has so much more in store for His people than a useless and meaningless piece of land in Israel.
