I'm not scoffing at His word,.. I'm scoffing at what you think is His word. Two different things.

The Holy Spirit has lead me to use scripture.
Tell me, what spirit leads someone to scoff?

Please.. You believe history from 5 minutes of your own research.
You know how to use a search engine, read, and type don't you?

Well, researching I found that no one really knows what a witch is, and the Halloween was originally Christian. So I don't think you can connect the two. It's really not well defined stuff is what I found with my search engine. Lets focus on what's real, and what we know instead of speculation.

I was just wondering (especially since it's getting closer to October) what do you guys think about the three H's that I'm into? They are Harry Potter, Halloween, and horror movies.

Hi April Rose. When I was a child, I used to love watching horror movies. I watched some of the Harry Potter movies also. I used to do Halloween, dressed up, even dressed up my kids, not the scary stuff but you know, the cute little outfits. My walk with the Lord was as a babe in Christ.
Now, as I have started reading the Scriptures, praying, and spending time with the Lord, I can no longer watch horror movies for the Holy Spirit has "opened my eyes" to the demonic things in the horror movies, the Harry Potter movies and the celebration of death. I have tasted and seen the goodness of God and I don't want to go back to the "old life" that I had before I really knew Him. I know that these things would grieve the Lord and I don't want to do that. In Philippians 4:8 it says

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

We must be careful what we see with our eyes, what we listen to with our ears, and what our minds dwell on. I hope this will help and encourage you April Rose! :)

What I know is that all three are the product of Satan so stay well clear.

Hello there,

I applaud earlier entries, by such as that entered by @4HizGlory37 and others.

However Mary Poppins performed magical tricks yet nothing is said about that. It is sheer fantasy. Harry Potter is fantasy. Fictional literature is fantasy. Films, whatever their subject matter are fantasy. They are resorted to as a distraction from the pressures and stresses of the reality of every day life. They enable the mind and body to break the cycle of anxiety caused by living every day, as does listening to music, whether rock or the classics.

I read fiction, watch a movie occasionally, and have watched the Harry Potter series. I hate Halloween because of it's source. I also wish it were possible to escape the religious over-commercialised events such as Easter and Christmas. I don't like horror movies, or those that glorify violence or are designed to gratify the lusts of the flesh.

I am flesh and blood, and my body and mind need to relax occasionally, whether I should feed my mind on fantasy in order to do so is debateable, but I confess that I do.

'And that, knowing the time,
.. that now it is high time to awake out of sleep:
.... for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
The night is far spent, the day is at hand:
.. let us therefore cast off the works of darkness,
.... and let us put on the armour of light.
Let us walk honestly, as in the day;
.. not in rioting and drunkenness,
.... not in chambering and wantonness,
...... not in strife and envying.
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ,
.. and make not provision for the flesh,
.... to fulfil the lusts thereof.'

(Romans 13:11-14)

* The Lord Jesus Christ is not fantasy, but a living reality. I could live without fiction with it's myths and fables: but I could not live without Christ, and the hope that He has laid before me

Praise God!

In Christ Jesus
Chris

Confession time.
I never did like horror movies. I never did find it a pleasure to be frightened. However, when "The Exorcist" was first released, (45 years ago???!!!!...good grief, I'm old) my friend and I decided to smoke a few doobies and go see this newly hailed horror of all horrors. When our turn came to the office, we were turned away because of a full house. The next night we went again...straight. And yep, it was another "H". Horrible. Not sure if it might have been better straight or stoned. Never seen a horror movie since. Watched one of those popular twilight vampire movies a couple of years ago and wondered why all the hype. Boring and stupid. As for those that depict demons such as Poltergeist...very dangerous to the susceptible. But movies such as Scream etc yeah, nah. Totally unmoved.
Harry Potter? Not a coincidence they're aimed at kids. While according to some above they have a sort of "moral standard" in that they reject murder etc etc...do they discourage magic? Witchcraft? I think modern witches would have you believe that curses etc are delivered in order to submit someone into doing your will. Like dying. Getting sick. Killing your grandmother. That sort of harmess stuff right?
And as for "H"alloween. Hall no.

Lolz Hall no, hahaha.

Halloween never used to be that big in Australia, only the last few years Halloween started getting more popular in this nation.

It used to be seen as American holiday that Americans celebrate, well that's what it used to look like to Australians.

Interesting post, good point about Mary Poppins, magical themes can be found in a lot of movies if people really wanted to. Even the Force in Star Wars is a supernatural theme. Even something like Disney's Frozen has magic in it.

At the end of the day I think it's just important for Christian kids to be educated and know how to tell the difference between God's power and witchcraft.

For example in real life you don't consult a fortune teller, witchdoctor or learn black magic, that's witchcraft, that's the Dark Side.

But then we are on God's side, we have the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we have Angels, we have Prayer Warriors, Prophets, Apostles, Evangelists, Shepherds, Teachers, we have Spiritual gifts in the Body of Christ like Tongues, Prophecies, Miracles, Healings, the raising of the dead, signs and wonders. This is what makes up God's side. The real life Light Side. :p

I recommend following Paul's advice.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

It appears that you are right, and that Halloween has its origins in the Catholic doctrines about dead saints.
Many pagan practices came in, as it was celebrated. So unlike christianized pagan holidays, Halloween is a paganized Christian Holiday.
How Ironic that it is demonic.

I'll add another H here for how humorous that this thread has turned out to be. I had an absolute ball last night and if this were any other website I would have been banned for joking around like that. It's great!! :D

If you want to focus on what is real, then here is the reality.

1. Satan is the adversary (enemy) of God, Christ, Christians, Christianity, and in fact mankind. His agenda is to STEAL, KILL, AND DESTROY.

2. Satan is already condemned to Hell, and he knows that his time is short. Therefore he is redoubling his efforts through his minions such as BLM, Antifa, the Democrats, the EU, the UN, WHO, etc.

3. Satan wants every human being in Hell, and fights against the Gospel and God's truth daily and viciously. He seems to be gaining the upper hand.

4. At the very least, Satan wants Christians to believe that there is nothing wrong with things originating with Satan and evil spirits. And he has managed to deceive many, in many different ways.

5. There are too many Christians failing to resist the devil. Therefore devilish things have crept into Christian lives, Christian homes , and Christian churches.

YOUR speculation.

I agree with you there. Satan is gaining hold on society portions, thank God for Christians.

Maybe we shouldn't read our bibles or watch bible movies since satan and demons are from Genesis through Revelation.

That is not even intellectually honest.
The Bible is from Gods perspective,
horror films are from the devils perspective.
